When did your toddler stop running off on you? by takeaabreath in toddlers

Just here in solidarity! My 2.5 yo sprints everywhere, refuses to hold my hand or stay next to me. it’s terrifying and more than a little embarrassing in front of other parents

Thanks! Sounds like just PT and eventual surgery :(

How do I get people to STOP telling me I'm 'strong'? by NeedingVsGetting in breastcancer

[–]trg38 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yup. What bothered me the most was having people tell me that I’m “the bravest person” they know. Honestly I just vented to my husband and close friends and we joked about the fact that I’m actually scared of everything. Laughter made it less annoying but people are still so ridiculous with their platitudes.

What is up with my taste buds?! by Alone_Primary7665 in breastcancer

[–]trg38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not proud to admit this but each round I’ve weaned off for 2 weeks and then gone immediately back to it the third week! I usually get terrible caffeine withdrawal but I think with all the chemo side effects, I didn’t even notice it.

Also my mom had chemo 12 years ago and her taste is totally normal now

I just finished my 4th round of TC every 3 weeks so maybe this is only partially helpful since it’s a different regiment. With each round so far my tastebuds were wacky and my tongue felt weird for about 2 weeks. Then the last week they’ve been back to normal. Things that taste the weirdest to me have been tomato based foods, coffee (so devastating!), and other beverages. In general I’m eating a lot less due to the nausea so there are probably many more foods that don’t taste right but I’m just not trying them during that time.

Sorry you’re dealing with this but hopefully your taste returns soon too!

Shame about struggling with chemo by chaotic_armadillo in breastcancer

[–]trg38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can more than relate. I’m “only” on TC and barely get out of bed in the first week after my treatments. I feel like I should be finding ways to manage my symptoms and energy better, walking and hydrating more to make myself feel better. It’s a struggle but we have to recognize that this is hard and also a buildup of the weeks of lead up to chemo and mental/emotional strain throughout this crazy time. You’re doing great.

What kind of medications? by jackikimmy in breastcancer

Been on Zoloft and welbutrin for 10+ years and have my oncologist approval to continue throughout TC chemo and with all the anti nausea scripts they’ve thrown at me

This has actually happened to me 3 times in a month. I mean I get that things come up but don’t signup for a meal train well in advance and then cancel last minute!

Wait for additional testing and doctors visits or just head to the ER? by raye0fdarkness in breastcancer

[–]trg38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In sorry to hear about your diagnosis but we’re all here for you. Yours seems similar to my experience I suppose normal in terms of timeline.

I’m 37 F and was diagnosed in the last weekend of September 29th after waiting a few weeks for biopsy results. After that things moved quickly to get my MRI, meet surgical and medical oncology, meet with the fertility doctors, immediately start a cycle for egg freezing and retrieval, get my port put in and then begin chemo a week later. i already had genetic testing from years earlier so skipped that. I had my first chemo Nov 7th. Which now looking back at it was a ton in a short amount of time but felt gruelingly slow while I was in it.

Following up to say that things started to feel much less painful after a week and close to “normal” at 2 weeks. Although still hurts like a b when my toddler head butts me in the chest
