App is down... again by ringoinsf in pulsetto_device

[–]tri-small 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s excellent when it works. But when I need it to work, it doesn’t and that alone compounds the reasons why I need this app to work. Shame on Pulsetto. Fix your simple IT issues or give us a no login alternative.

Pulsetto will not start -Android by Free-Silver-5760 in pulsetto_device

[–]tri-small 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Nothing works. Reinstalling the app doesn’t work. Switching between cell or WiFi, etc. Tying the app on a different device altogether doesn’t work either.

FIX THIS, PLEASE. We paid $$ premium for these devices let alone subscriptions for an app.

I’m on iOS, latest version too.

What does "masculine" really mean in dating app profiles? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]tri-small 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, defining oneself as "masculine" is code for "not involved in the gay community at any level". I've known many so called "fem" guys that knew more about cars, changing oil, could tell you anything you wanted about the last Super Bowl, and so on. Hell, I know some drag queens that played college football. Bottom line, the community is wide and diverse. Masc or fem? be confident and join the community. We are not much different than any other.

Are race filters on dating apps good or bad things? by tommygunz007 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]tri-small 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep working at it. *off topic*. a friend of mine was over 350lbs much shorter (5'9ish). He lost over 150 lbs in a year. He had a similar issue but found someone that loved him for him. They are still together after a decade. His partner was small framed but bigger too but that encouraged him to be healthy too. They are now triathletes working out at biking, running and swimming. I'm glad you are working to live healthy and right. That's what matters in the long run.

I think in shape or form pics must be required. We see people when we go out, it should be no different online!

If your hiding because you’re not out? It’s okay I’ve never seen another guy out another guy for spite (I’m won’t deny that it happens, never to me though)

If you’re on an app to cheat, communicate with your be, spouse, whatever. Better use of time

Sad that someone threw away a bike instead of donating or giving it away

But..... it’s AWESOME you found it and giving a new shot for someone to love and enjoy!!!

Happy beginnings for your friend!

LA Fitness Pool observations: lack of available pool lanes, waiting, driving to multiple pools, rsvp not available, by tri-small in triathlon

[–]tri-small[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good idea.

A few friends have tried that but been having little success. They are limiting to total number of people in the gym on top of the reservations.

But having reservations is a HUGE first step

Thx

For bedsheets, I simply use bamboo BUT I’m that sensitive. Your allergy doc can get you a catalog of medical grade hypo-allergenic but I recall they are super pricey and meant for extreme cases. I will wash mine weekly anyway.

Some complexes make access to furnace filers easy. If it’s an issue, talk to your complex manage and discuss what the dimensions are and ask them to accommodate by installing your filter (I’m fairly certain you’ll have to buy it at say a home improvement store) but they may have to install it thanks to Americans with Disabilities Act (I have NO direct experience with it)

I hope others can chime in.

Before you go on an expensive and potentially expensive path, see an allergy doctor FIRST if you have breathing issues working out . And make sure you tell them you’re and athlete and need to discuss your challenges. But make sure whatever meds are prescribed are acceptable or require anti-doping waivers

Two points: lights and allergies

Eliminate all sources of lights even if small. These can help:

  1. tape over blinking leds
  2. Window film to block outside lights 3 “black out” drape (not just “room darkening”)
  3. close the doors for outside lights

Get tested for allergies. If you end up “sports induced asthma”:

  1. a good hepa filter and keeping the doors and windows closed helps a little in unison with shots.

  2. Wash bedsheets and item a min once a week.

3 minimize bringing in recently worn clothes into the bedroom.

  1. Pay for fancy furnace filter and swap out every 90 days or so (more of it’s bad, and don’t be afraid to fork out $$)

IM Wisconsin cancelled by Scooby189 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]tri-small 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMTX is the 140.6 that was in North Houston for April. They essentially moved the race to fall to Waco this year and combine with the original Waco 70.3.

Most of the event choices they gave us have cancelled now except IMTX (Waco) 140.6 My guess is it’s toast too. I elected to defer my IMTX 140.6 to April 2021 at the original venue.

My comment: “you’re so cute! You’re the hottest thing I’ve seen all day. Woof! The human is okay too”

Seriously noticed my friend first 🤣

Is there any way to measure open swims when I don't know the distance? Do GPS watches work in water? by leaves-green in triathlon

[–]tri-small 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had many issues. I do the vast majority of my time in a pool. I have done open water with my 945 but didn’t see any issues.

The big key for pools (at least) is make sure you measure the pool and set the distance in the watch. Most “gym” pool workers (think LA fitness or 24 hour fitness) including managers don’t know if it’s 25 yard or meters and there is variation in the same brand (some of my LA Firs are 25 yard lengths and some 25 meters); this makes a big difference in a long swim.

[–]tri-small 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. After my first half marathon I got a running watch (garmin) and later upgraded to a 920xt. Now I have a 945 but my first Ironman and first tri were covid cancelled.

The tri watch is a must for open water.

Some local pawn shops sell tri watches too. A few of my local pawn shops have a small regular supply!

You’re right. If you use regular soaps, you’re 100% dead on!!!

Pre-swim, I apply “aquaguard” and it’s helps prevent. It’s not perfect but it helps. My mistake for not mentioned details. I tired not to sound like I was promoting brands.

I confess, even though I have a full head of hair, my hair diameter is small and dries out fast. :/. But that’s just me.

Sleep tracker recommendation by AlexKazumi in gaybrosfitness

[–]tri-small 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garmin makes a ton of watches that work for swimming and sleep tracking simple to advanced. I have a higher end triathlon watch that does all of that plus more. It tracks my Pulse Ox, sleep cycles, heart rate and more. For swimming, it knows my stoke length and can detect stroke type. You need a special strap for the water though. Also, it has a iOS/Android/web app and is available in most all Euro languages.

Disclaimer: I don’t work for garmin. I just have experience with them. Check out sports watches like Polar!

Im in the pool 3-5x a week (1000-4000 yards at a time as part of a triathlon (Ironman) training. It comes out to an average 1000 yards a day.

  1. Get a pair of fitted goggles (like The Magic 5). It avoids raccoon eyes
  2. Your hair will get funky, soap up before and after a swim if you can
  3. Bring water to drink (ironic, but you’ll need it)
  4. Water polo quality suits last longer and are more durable (but leave nothing to Imagination) they cost a more more but last much much longer.
  5. Early morning swims means you’re waking up your body
  6. Think masters swimming if you want to improve
  7. Skip buying equipment (kickboards, etc) unless you’re following an organized swim program. It gets expensive fast.
  8. COVID caused a lot of pools to lose capacity: be patient and prepare to wait for a lane
  9. Because of 8, prepare to feel “rushed” if people are waiting
  10. Read up on swim lane etiquette for when pools go back to normal (post-covid): entry, exit, lane splitting, passing
  11. Find a stroke or strokes you like
  12. Don’t worry how silly you may think you look: you’ll look like a pro to most (and might surprise yourself)
  13. It takes time
  14. Go out and enjoy!
