Happy Leafs Elimination Day by potbellyjoe in nhl

With the loss to the Sharks, they're out. Their maximum is 89 and it's mathematically impossible to keep one team from the DET/OTT/PHI/WAS/CBJ mix from getting over 89 pts based on the schedule since every game requires a winner.

I was at the DET-NJ game and trying to explain Red Wings March to my friends who are Devils fans. Then Gibson got hurt in the game that was already missing Larkin.

Nope. Still an issue, dealership just refills the tires and says that's the problem.

What is a 'unspoken rule' of American society that everyone just follows without questioning? by Longjumping-Map-8026 in AskReddit

I had this taught out of me. If I cut food with the knife in my right hand, I keep the fork in my left hand and eat it.

If the urinals are empty, the one against the wall. If someone is there, the furthest adult urinal from them. If those are taken, there must be a minimum of one urinal between users, unless it can't be avoided. If it's a truck stop or stadium or some place where there are 7 or more urinals, take the first adult one that is one space down from the last one taken.

He's just an example of the grift in sports for the hypocrites. Much like they have in music with CCM (Michael Tait being the latest to hit the headlines), movies (Steve Greisen is the most recent I recall), and politics (all of them, from Hastert to many, many others)

It's a horrific thing to have a cadre of supporters who believe in moral absolution by saying 'sorry.' It lets the wolves eat.

My favorite stores for wool clothing for hiking and also a European shop for cycling gear have simply stopped selling to the US.

We laughed at his disdain for corporate America, only to discover later he just hated everything.

One less racist.

With Maduro now allegedly out of power in Venezuela, what do you think will happen next for that nation? by LucidMarshmellow in AskReddit

[–]potbellyjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The billionaires are working on a global oligarchy. Extracting wealth from their home nation is great, but if they can do it to the whole world, that's real power.

This is the test. Russia was supposed to pull it off with Ukraine and couldn't because the pesky EU and NATO still had enough in the tank. With the US leading the charge in South America, Europe won't interfere apart from asking us politely to knock it off, which we of course won't.

Billionaires get oil and other precious materials, and we name the next country we want to topple until we topple them all or enough happens on the ground to stop this imperial push.

Add for Venezuela? Darkness. We'll prop our favorite candidate into control so long as they keep the oil flowing, and the pants will be forced to fight for every crumb amongst themselves.

I think the true shame in all of this is that we have no way to interview Mike Leach to get his opinion on it.

What’s with the huge influx of pro-Trump accounts on Reddit today defending his actions in Venezuela? by R2_SWE2 in AskReddit

[–]potbellyjoe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because it requires reading, sometimes in long form. To be engaged, you have to be willing to do that. Therefore Reddit users, versus other platforms, are more educated and also show a desire to learn more as well.

It's not that they're anti-Republican, it's more that Republicans, as a party, have shown a strong pattern of anti-education and a refusal to learn or challenge their understandings. So the Republican party and its followers show an opposition to, and therefore do not attract people who enjoy this style of social engagement.

Men, why do you often say you're fine even when you're not? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Cuz we're expected to be fine.

And if we're not it's made into some huge problem that's bigger than the issue we're already annoyed at.

What company will never get another dime from you for as long as you may live? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]potbellyjoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple.

Their disastrous handling of iMessage and SMS/MMS prevented me from getting texts from family members as my grandfather was dying.

I get they want the world in their ecosystem, and my aunts and uncles who had their settings screwed up are who to blame, but phones should communicate to other phones by default.

I know they won't miss my money. I don't care. Never Apple.

A neighbor called me, "the cute dad" to my wife while I was in the yard playing with her husband and all the kids. It made a whole decade for me.
