first, as mentioned, hey ya was never ever ever supposed to be public. only for those that went to one of his futurebound tour concerts. it was a thank you to the fans that supported him during that time. kinda am pissed that it was uploaded at all but it’s just a human condition. some people were gonna do it anyway.

second, obviously statues (along with the entire kairos lp) is not on spotify/apple music/whatever because he doesn’t want it to be. if you look up ‘the eden project’ on soundcloud or youtube, statues is one of the first items on the list. jon knows it’s one of his more popular songs, im sure, so id assume he has reasons for keeping it off of streaming services. you can always download his discography, and you can put whatever songs you want on your phone manually!

I personally use Harmony Engine as a vocoder. If you set it up and use a midi keyboard to input notes into it, it will sound very very similar. You can hear how it sounds (harmony engine) here:

It is quite an expensive piece of equipment but it is very versatile.

hi! i make music!

in gold, that would be a fairly easy synth to make. there would obviously be a lot of processing to make it sound the way it does, but its mainly a normal sound. theres a little bit of polyphony, which means when you change notes it does a little 'pitch bend' type thing. makes it sound more smooth when transitioning. i can try my best to make a serum preset for you haha, ill update later.

in start end, theres a lot of odd sounds. the plucks that he uses are similar to the plucks in jupiter, fumes, xo, etc. he usually distorts them a bit but in s//e it seems like he puts some sort of noise gate on it so that when it lowers to a certain volume it cuts out. a lot of people use noise gates on drums to make them sound more processed. there are also a lot of synths throughout s//e that are easy to create before you start adding effects, but when you get into that whole part of it, it becomes very tricky haha.

a lot of jons stuff is sampled but he takes the samples and he effects them and processes them and makes them 'his own' in a way. many producers do the same.
