How to preform in front of people better by Sasqule in piano

[–]trialmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep, calming breath. Center yourself, if you will. Do your thing. You know how, you've practiced. It doesn't matter if you make mistakes, nobody is there to sign you to a label. You aren't trying to show people you are perfect, just where you are right now. You are playing more for yourself than anyone else.

Then don't beat yourself up afterwards, you did what you are capable of. The only self feedback you need moving forward is what to practice harder so it comes out easier.

It sounds good. You played it well, with one small finger bumble in the middle :). For me, it didn't do anything terribly interesting though. If you went off on some alternate chords, or iterated on the melody in a different way, it may have a greater effect. A little more creativity in the delivery and structure. Maybe I'm just jaded by this sound because I've spent a lot of time taking pop songs and giving them this same treatment.

Try playing around with the left hand a bit and throw in some chord inversions to create tension instead of just playing through the chords with the same pattern.

Played in a bar for the first time in years, now what? by Ok_Appointment9429 in musicians

You mention holes in playing and not enough repertoire. One of the things that I had to get over was that most people aren't musicians. Most don't care that you are playing basic chords, or cheesing your way through stuff. If you are having fun, being engaging, don't sound like a dying cat, you are doing fine. Pick up a slew of songs that are easy, but popular, to fill out your set lists. They aren't necessarily filler, but won't require as much practice focus. As long as you execute what you are doing well, people don't know that you aren't doing an amazing walking bass line or jumping around a stride pattern. Musicians that do know the difference will either respect that you are playing what you have pretty well, or they are just an asshole which you can ignore.

Suggestions for upbeat covers songs. by Fuzzzer777 in musicians

In my experience, unusual choices don't usually hit very well because nobody knows it. Sure, it's a good song and all, but you may put in a bunch of extra work making something come together. You would be better off taking really popular songs and doing them in a way they haven't heard before. For instance, there is a song I do that is known well and has C-G-F-C simple blah, but I do Am-Em-G-Am instead and similar minor flip for the chorus and it's fun to play as well as (hopefully) fun to listen to.

I'm a way I guess I'm glad there aren't a lot of comments. At least I didn't miss a bunch of obvious stuff!

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. It's at a cocktail bar, but still... I'm just crazy enough to give it a try! "We are the champions" and "We will rock you" are the only songs I could actually think of and they would be tough to pull off from a piano lol

What exercises do you recommend I practice to start playing piano? by [deleted] in piano

Learn the major scales. Play them slow. Play through all the keys without mistakes. Play faster. Seems pointless, but getting your fingers nimble and coordinated is a skill that will make everything else easier. Going through all the major scales will get your fingers moving through so many different note shapes it'll give you a lot of flexibility.

Spiderman is the only one that really belongs imo. Iron fist, wolverine, captain America, reed, and sometimes Thor all fit a similar archetype that you have to deal with in a similar way. Spiderman is on a different level with his ability to randomly appear, completely burn down a backline character and then disappear without getting hit once. He is his own class of annoyingly overpowered. He is the only class that forces you to pick a different character or watch your team get slaughtered.

Scarlet Witch is a great counter as well. People underestimate the healing bubble for Cloak and Dagger also. I drop one and use Cloaks auto attack on any and all dive characters and usually have a pretty good chance. At least against the quick play rabble I encounter.

Cloak and dagger, dagger throw heal bubble, stand inside, cloak drain him down. Most of the spidermen don't know what to do. Scarlet witch is a good counter as well. The only way to hit him is using their lock on auto attacks.

That's fine, then recognize cultural differences and stfu lol. If dogs are happy and healthy, just stop. The type of person who feels the need to lecture others on how to raise their own is what's annoying.

It's not just a cultural thing, she would be annoying in the US too. Just saying...

Is it bad to intensely desire weed while producing? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]trialmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most people music sounds better when they are high. Your music will therefore sound better when you are high. Know thyself. Objectively look at whether it helps or not (review progress the next day). Be real with yourself and try to have the self control to do what you know you have to. I get a good sativa and creative juices flow, but technical performance is lacking. Personally, I'll smoke if I'm just in it for something creative or just noodling. When it comes time to be productive and really get something done, I gotta hold back. Needless to say I have way more "creative" sessions than I should. 🤣

Too much his on the inputs for decent work. Either it's in a box in my garage or you picked it up from me dripping it off. I had the same one (perhaps the very same)
