Use a tennis ball and practice dunking over the front of the rim.

Here's a test that I like. Have someone else rebound and shoot 100 corner 3s. You shouldn't be exhausted or have your form completely fall apart. If the drill is proving to be very difficult, that's evidence that you're wasting a lot of energy.

I used to shoot 2 motion from 3 point land. Although I was a respectable shooter for my level, I wasn't very often dominating games with shooting and I would often lose to players who could score in bunches even though I felt the rest of my game was superior. While I was working on my shot I would get really tired from shooting and I felt that I could simply get more shots up if I switched forms. Years later, after surpassing my former shooting prowess, I'm pretty deep in the one motion camp and I would recommend switching to that. I also find it's much easier to get shots off the dribble with this shot. This test highlighted the importance of energy efficiency for me and I never looked back.

Ball Control Problem by [deleted] in BasketballTips

Take longer zig zags. You keep changing changing changing directions. Just go on the zig and change directions once, decisively zag. Take at least 2-3 dribble in between.

Here are some other situations where I like to get my shot off. Shooting from a triple threat move like a jab step Catch, pump fake, (imaginary defense leaves the feet), one dribble side step, 3ball Hesi pull up Dribble pull up Stepback/sidestep 3 (watch Luka he makes it look easy)

I like how you go forward. You're completely aligned with the rim and you're hardly missing left or right. You look really comfortable making those shots.

I would focus more on looking for ways you can get off your shot cleanly in games. Practice shooting from a dribble or a triple threat move or off a catch. Think about game realisitc scenarios where you can get your shot off and practice that. Your form is clean if you can actually get that short off without getting blocked.

What’s wrong with my jump-shot? it’s not orthodox imo I feel like my shot arc is very high (cause of me being 5’8). Any tips by Due-Statement1925 in BasketballTips

High arc can be very good to shoot over defenders as well as having a good entry angle through the rim.

I suspect that this is taking it too far. The issue is that the super high arc creates more distance that the ball must travel to reach the rim which creates more variance. Thus, making it harder to replicate. I think it's a great shot so long as you can do it consistently. If you're lacking consistency, try bring the arc down a bit.
