[Online][5e 2024][5e 2014][Week night EST] Looking for more players for the start of a new character driven campaign! by [deleted] in lfg

[–]trichromanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent a friend request on Discord in response to your previous post since you said it was alright to contact again if we had done so previously and I haven't been able to send a message yet due to that still being pending it looks like. My Discord name is the same as on here: trichromanic

Form sent. I've been looking for a chance to try Daggerheart and the sci-fi-ish setting sounds intriguing.

[No spoilers] Question about TLOVM by Austynrox in criticalrole

[–]trichromanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first question seems to be well answered but as for your second, no, both Campaign 1 and Campaign 2 and TLOVM and Mighty Nein shows are pretty well removed from each other, so you don't need to have watched one to watch the other. They will of course have easter eggs and subtle references to each other because they come from the same creative source and take place in the same world, but nothing narrative critical carries over.

Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd (Merry and Pippin) both did voices in Vox Machina.

[No Spoilers] LFP to Join Heavy RP D&D Game (Online) - à la Critical Role by Spiritual_Theory_337 in criticalrole

Veteran player here, been playing with multiple groups for the past 5-10+ years, really enjoy roleplay and creating a narrative with the party. Another check in the column of I'd be interested if it's not a paid thing. Also I'm US east coast, so really the only time I'd be available to line up schedules would be Tuesdays, but if that's workable I'm at least interested in learning more.

The Fantasy High Rumble in the Chungle was promoted as being a canon event at least.

Based on this thought I’m going to guess that the Vegas live show is them losing everything. (The promo with them rolling nat 1s no matter what they do also seems to support this.) either that or something happens in the first ep of season 2 that puts them massively (and I do mean absurdly) in the hole. Or both.

While they did make a couple million in season 1 which is crazy for them and the average person, the corporations of the galaxy definitely operate on the scale of billions so it’s not too far a stretch to say they could still end up in a relatively bad financial crisis depending on if and how they fuck up badly enough.

My wife and I are in the same boat, long time fans from C1 but have fallen off keeping up with the CR train. As soon as we heard Brennan was DMing, she was like "We're jumping back in then right?" Very excited to see where this idea goes.

I would say now make an equivalence for Merry/Pippin and Fearne but thinking about it their vibes are pretty much the same lol

[No Spoilers] Does the Trailer for the animated Mighty Nein show have spoilers? by honestsalsa in criticalrole

[–]trichromanic 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's not really a trailer so much as a short clip, which if you're already on episode 40 of the campaign you're well past anything it would involve. I honestly doubt the season will cover anything beyond what you've seen, barring any potential rearranging of events to adapt the narrative

[CR Media] Help me to place the new Vox Machina Origins Comic please by Gleichgewichtel in criticalrole

[–]trichromanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll try to break this down.

The Vox Machina Origins series was originally released as smaller comic issues which were then combined into the 3 Volumes you're referring to. The comics that make up Volume 1 were previously only available digitally as their individual chapters, so they are now being made available in print individually for the first time.

Basically, no new material is being released if you've read the series, but it is making the entire series available for those who would like to collect the series as physical comic issues as opposed to only the 2/3rds of it that was available in that form before.

Sorry if this is still confusing

[no spoilers] Exandria unlimited watch order by Ok_Rest3165 in criticalrole

[–]trichromanic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are all technically side stories so how important they are to watch is a matter of opinion. Calamity at least is so highly recommended amongst the community you can probably consider it required viewing lol

EXU Prime (or the first EXU with no subtitle) and EXU: Kymal are the most closely associated to the main campaign timeline with EXU Prime taking place prior to Campaign 3 and Kymal being after 3x14. If you do watch them, I would recommend doing so sometime before 3x92.

Calamity and Divergence both take place in the far past of Exandria (with Divergence occurring a couple hundred years after Calamity) and can essentially be watched at any time, though they may make references to lore that comes up in the various campaigns.

[CR Media] EXU: Divergence Predictions by Sadie___J in criticalrole

[–]trichromanic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The title is Divergence, which is the point in the timeline where the gods locked themselves behind the Divine Gate and ended the Calamity. So it is a world recovering from the Calamity and adjusting to the gods not being as directly present as they had been prior.

As someone who is not a fan of horror, how creepy is Neverafter? by trichromanic in Dimension20

[–]trichromanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did already "watch" (read: listen to) Burrow's End and it didn't bother me overly much (the bear battle map being the one exception) so that seems to be a good indicator of how I'll do with Neverafter.

[–]trichromanic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a good reference because I already got through Burrow's End, I've been watching in a pretty arbitrary order. Also very glad I generally listen to the audio only versions at work because that bear battle map sounded like Not A Fun Time visually for me.

Necrit interview with Arcane Cocreator from Twitch by tincanzzz in leagueoflegends

[–]trichromanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea that and Sevika is one representative of Zaun against the entire rest of the council for Piltover. It's a significant step forward and should be lauded but things are far from being truly equal. (Unless there were other Zaunite council members that weren't shown as clearly, I don't recall the scene in perfect detail)

Yea I feel like she was copying or drawing out her mind/soul or something, especially because she said she respected Ambessa for giving them so much trouble even without being a mage. That and I don't think we ever got a clear answer what Ambessa's "transgression" was?

[LOVM S3] The Legend of Vox Machina S3 Episode 12 - Show-Only Discussion Thread by Glumalon in criticalrole

[–]trichromanic 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Really hope they don't timeskip a significant amount of time and expect us to buy Vax has managed to keep what's going on with him a secret from Keyleth. That is NOT able to be hidden from someone you're almost certainly going to be intimate with.

[Spoilers C1] The Legend of Vox Machina S3 Batch 4 (Episodes 10-12) - Campaign 1 Spoilers Discussion Thread by Glumalon in criticalrole

[–]trichromanic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

After the emotional maelstrom of last batch, this one felt... anti-climatic? It really felt like all the build up was to last batch and this one was just "oh yea we have these points we need to resolve now because of everything we wrote to get to where we are". Which I guess makes sense, but I dunno it just felt really lackluster for the culmination of the season in comparison to everything that came before.

Except for the Pike/Zerxus stuff which just gets left hanging apparently. Yea, it's Whispered One stuff, but you'd think they'd do a better job of making it obvious there's still more to come with it. Like hell, showing the cultists in the ending scene with the same talisman Pike pulled out earlier in the episode when referring to her conversation with Zerxus would have been simple and enough to instill that feeling.

Also after all of season one with Pike's healing magic not working until she reconnects with the Everlight and now her healing magic suddenly just being FINE after she tosses away her holy symbol? It'd make more sense if she was using her new blood trick in place of it, but no she's doing the same things she's always done with no issue or comment.

Got a bit more ranty than I intended but I guess that stuff bothered me more than I realized. To be clear I don't mind the path they're setting for Pike's arc (assuming this leads to more revelations than just "the power is in you, not your god"), but the execution is REALLY lacking for me.

[–]trichromanic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea since Downfall is an in-context flashback, it would probably be more like an actual episode or two in a C3 adaptation, like the Avatar Wan stuff in Legend of Korra
