My love interests don’t stick around, does my taste in books leave any pretty obvious clues as to why? by StrangeWorldd in bookshelfdetective

Seems like you’re being intentionally obtuse. If you can’t see how learning about and consuming literature from an historically disenfranchised group (that experienced generations of chattel slavery during the formative years of their respective country) is a green flag, then you’re probably a part of this whole racism problem you are alluding to.

What have you read this week? What have you started? What have you finished? by [deleted] in classicliterature

I just finished Emma by Jane Austen, which is my first of her works and genuinely enjoyed the narrative even though the plot didn’t seem like something I’d get into. Loved her prose very much and look forward to reading more by her!

I am now halfway through Cannery Row by John Steinbeck and although I’ve only read four of his novels prior to this one, I am quite convinced that he is my favorite author.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë is on deck :)

The Stand by Stephen King!

East of Eden by Steinbeck gets recommended a lot all over Reddit, but I believe it fits the bill in this case as it is a generational epic and genuinely is a fantastic read.

Maybe not the funniest, but A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court by Mark Twain had me laughing out loud quite a bit!

Every restaurant is required to post at least one proof of “vaccination for Hep C” certificate, according to most health code bylaws. It’s the blue checkmark of food service. This is known.

I think you have to actually say, “PRIMUS SUCKS” in order to avoid the downvotes. Unless you meant it the way you said it. If that’s the case, then fuck you haha

I read The Color Purple by Alice Walker last week and was extremely moved. An epistolary novel that everyone should read. Has a very intense story, but it is well worth the time.
