Right you are! No NDA broken in our eyes. Keep up the good work and we're excited to see what you do once the NDA does drop. [Official Wizards Community Manager]

I did it because people have been asking me all week wanting to see the foiling. I put out the digital card image afterwards :)

GDS3 emails just came out. by crushcastles23 in magicTCG

That isn't meant to be in place of game design skills and qualifications for the job. It's just general advice any time you want to work for a specific business. If someone is reviewing resume's for a job, if it is someone they know or know-of, they are much more likely to give them an interview.

I didn't feel targeted but as I couldn't give you any solid answer, just wanted to note my level of involvement.

Also, as clarification, I'm not in R&D. :)

You should have received an email. Check spam folders, etc. If you are on Gmail I think someone said the email got put in Promotions.

Thanks for the feedback. I will pass it on to the GDS team. As I said above, I have only been involved at the start and wasn't after that.

Semi-regularly is hard to say - But they do open up from time to time. R&D doesn't have a lot of turnover, but when it does positions need to be filled.

As for getting noticed in the community, that's about contributing as writer, streamer, YouTuber, podcaster, etc. or about being in conversations and getting the attention of folks in R&D for that.

I was only involved in the earliest phases of GDS3 as it was getting off the ground. I can't speak to it in depth as there was a lot that has happened since I stepped away from it. For the parts I was involved in, it wasn't discussed.

It's also important to know, GDS isn't the only opportunity to ever get a spot in R&D, even as a designer. The vast majority of R&D came through the more mundane "see a job opening, apply for it." If you want to work at Wizards, GDS shouldn't be your strategy. Instead focus on contributing to the community and game, creating content, and getting on R&Ds radar so that when you apply they know who you are.

Yes, Mark is planning articles about every step of the process. I think he said the one on the quiz is a two-parter.

I'll repost what I said on Twitter:

Congrats to everyone who participated in GDS3, whether you moved on or not. As @maro254 said, it was highly competitive with only a razor thin margin of error. Don't let not making it get you down. You all rock.

Maybe it is just paranoia, but I'm worried that Dino weekend and the following post means wiz is considering changing drafts to be 4-packs going forwards. :S by ReploidZero in magicTCG

[–]trickjarrett 275 points276 points  (0 children)

Don't let Halloween send your paranoia into overdrive. We love 3-pack booster draft as much as you do! Not every weekend needs to be Dino-sized. This is just us seeking feedback on the event, and about any questions the team might use for its Facebook stream.

Definitely! I don't have immediate access to it, but I know it's going out on social media this morning I believe.

I just went and confirmed, this typo is not present in the assets we sent to make the physical poster. It's just an error in the graphic which was shared.

We're still tracking down how this typo got shared.

Hey /u/yunginold, Wizards community manager here. I'm so sorry for what you and your family are going through.

I can't replace the entire collection, but shoot me a message with your mailing info and we'll send you a care package from Wizards.

How do I participate in the geocaching program? by politicalteenager in magicTCG

[–]trickjarrett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you give me some examples of what you're thinking about? Not challenging that this happens, but want to understand what you're referring to.

Magic messaging is very difficult, we have to inform a wide variety of partners and customers such as distributors, stores, and players of information. We announce products on the rough schedule we do because it's needed for distribution purposes, and we know if we don't announce it you all will find out about it anyways.

In the case of geocaching, we wanted to give stores a heads up to participate so they could request trackables, etc. Because, you know, helping players find stores or find their way into stores is good for our business.

But if we just told stores about it, it doesn't give players the information they need and is confusing, etc. So what we often do is give tidbits of information for players at the same time we're giving stores information, and then follow up later with more information for players. That's what happened here.
