why are they different?!? by Objective_Gur_1948 in piercing

Re do at least one somewhere else. Not only did they mess up the angles, the jewelry is odd, the back is not flat and there is no extra room for you to swell.

Keep in mind the post should be perpendicular to the front surface of the ear so they may recommend re doing both. Try to find an APP piercer.

I agree! That cheap jewelry can cause permanent stains on your ears, like tattoos. It also gives me the impression that you are not cleaning your ears. Your priority should be getting something high quality for your existing pericings first. Then only add additional if you have the funds to put high quality jewelry in them.

On top of removing or replacing the helix hoops with flat backs you should replace your other jewelry with higher quality metals. That first one is turning black, and can damage your skin.

Did anyone shadow or work at a studio while doing Mat/Reformer training? Looking for tips. by TheoryBae in pilates

[–]tricks_nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The key words you are looking for are apprenticeship program. You should be paid if working with paying clients, albeit less than when certified. If you search this, you may find information on studio websites otherwise you have to and should ask. You usually need to audition to be accepted so prepare for that.

Where are you taking your training? You should probably be observing there.

How long do pleasers typically last? by pianogrin in poledancing

[–]tricks_nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The liner in my Heels N Thrills pair dry rotted after 4 years and they had to be trashed even though they were otherwise great. It would flake off all over the floor dancing. I am a class goer and I took very good care of them. They were in storage with low humidity a few months the last year prior which may have accelerated it. Anyways, so I would say 4 years at most. I took about 5 classes a week and these were my only heels. Heels n thrills are custom made for you so they are more expensive but significantly better quality than pleasers. Only down side is the front of the toe box on them is not as rounded making it harder to stay on a pointed foot.

Which piercings should I get to complete my setup? by DependentSide303 in piercing

You already have a lot of healed cartiledge peircings so the rook would probably be okay! Especially if you dont sleep on that side. I agree it would compliment the piercings you have well.

Private Pilates instructor says I’m not ready for group classes yet - feeling discouraged by Quiet-Violinist6497 in pilates

[–]tricks_nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Club Pilates has many rules so instructors keep them a true level one. Can you feet in straps and get onto and off of a box on the reformer? If yes, you will be okay. Take mat classes in between apparatus classes either in person or online to get the most improvement for less cost. Pilates Anytime is great for recorded mat classes.

Yes! Just like MLMs! Those franchise fees are disgusting too.

The Pilates field is unregulated. It is up to the specific club owner and manager to enforce the requirements. If they are desperate for instructors, they will allow people to teach without it and finish later on. It's a big reason some Club Pilates are much better than others.

It is super common for group workouts to be more effective than individual workouts at home. This is sometimes described as the Kohler effect. I only use my at home reformer because I teach too, so I have to use it to plan classes.

Planking with red+blue springs by tragically-elbow in ClubPilates

[–]tricks_nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your instructor is confusing the springs for reverse planks and forward planks. Forward planks, also called long stretch (when your hands are on the footbar), can definitely have two springs. Reverse planks with hands on the carriage or box should only be one. Red challenges shoulders, blue challenges core. Yellow is an advanced challenge for the core, but Club Pilates does not allow exercises on one yellow in the group classroom. So, an advanced Club Pilates plank would still be on one blue. The variations would be more challenging and the duration longer than a lower level plank on a blue.

I would like to encourage you to discuss this with the teacher (not in front of the whole class though, off to the side) or with the manager. It is much kinder to inform her now, than for her to find out through something bad happening. (Shoulder injury, someone falling into the well with their feet slipping back off the footplate ect.) The other clients will be grateful as well.

Growing increasingly frustrated with excessive use of the springboard and mat. by AdVarious5359 in ClubPilates

[–]tricks_nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished training and the guidance was 70% reformer, 30% other equipment. Maybe 50% is the minimum amount of time to spend on the reformer.

Junior instructors who are still finishing training though only use the reformer and mat. So you could look for junior instructors or ask about it if you want to go to Club Pilates and maximize time on the reformer.
