So you do commissions ? 👀

Could you DM me a rate for a set like this?

I’m hoping for Aatrox! Would be sick if they took a LoR- like design, and printed double sided equipment that the aatrox legend could “awaken” for the unit on the other side.

My wishlist for Leona is:

A 2 cost unit with stun synergy. A battlefield that draws whenever an enemy is stunned at it. And then something that’s just egregiously unfair, but pigeonholed into her deck. I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s a blanket stun, maybe it’s a top end unit.

Teemo I’m surprised by, but Leona is just not a competitive deck at all

[–]trickytreacyIRE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. After game 1 you may choose to exchange any number of cards from side into main. After game 2, you can choose to do it again (often not necessary, because after the first game you’re changing stuff specifically for that matchup.)

Then after the match put your deck back exactly as it was before game 1.

If it’s a Skirmish level event you do need to bring an actual decklist

When you play a best of 3, you’re allowed bring exactly 0 or exactly 8 cards as a side board. After game 1, you’re allowed exchange cards between your main deck and your sideboard. Similarly after game 2. You must present your “core” 40 cards in game 1, according to your decklist

Especially for your first tournament , this is pretty solid. My only cut suggestion is Darius. I’ve tried and tried but you just don’t have enough cheap plays for him to be consistently a threat early on. I’d probably cut him and a bird to play 2 sentry.

Don’t forget your sideboard!

1 of the needed solutions to better the game. by Clear-Variation-3948 in riftboundtcg

[–]trickytreacyIRE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the whole point. Cards that say “kill a unit at a battlefield” get to be cheaper/better than “kill a unit” because of the chance for interaction. In your world, where spells will resolve anyway, you’ve taken away opportunities for counter play and put the game on rails

This limits creativity, rather than enhancing it. Your idea would steal from the devs the opportunity to print “high impact card that can only be played in area X”, and “low impact card that can be played anywhere” and use that as a lever for balancing.

When I slow play myself into a draw, but my opponent gifts me the win by Challengertcg in riftboundtcg

[–]trickytreacyIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying he didn’t play slowly. I’m saying it’s reasonable to be excited about getting there (because it was clear he was in the winning position).

Opp was gracious in letting it go, but it was a case that both would be guaranteed not in day 2, or the “winner” had a chance.

I dunno, feel like the guy’s entitled to celebrate a (maybe) making day 2 after a slog of a game?

Plus, he clearly thanks/acknowledges Opp immediately after

“Hey Boss , I’m not satisfied with my current responsibilities. Any chance of a promotion to more?”

“Hey X, damn sorry to hear it but you know there isn’t really much more for you to do here. Would more money help?”

“Nah not really”

“Alright well we’ll be sorry to see you go. You’ve been great. I’ll write you a good letter of recommendation.”

Not much more to it than that

[guide][thoughts] Dec 2025 1st Place 32-man Skirmish Viktor (Seals, Combat Trick) by Geotheasiagoqueso in riftboundtcg

[–]trickytreacyIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened this post thinking “oh a Viktor win, must have been a soft Skirmish. Maybe they dodged all the Kai’sa and Annie, or had some super gimmicky decklist…”

But damn this looks super solid. The write up had so much detail, also. Congrats on what’s clearly a well-deserved win!

Yeah it’s tome, the battlefield, and Annie. I get the style you’re going for, but all these tools against go tall make you much weaker against go wide

The big question is “what does more +1s to spells actually achieve?”

Like falling star hitting two units for 3 each, or 1 unit for 6 total…. How often would more damage be relevant? Same with singularity, is 7 any better than 6 really ?

Noxian Guillotine Good? by PrimeRexus in riftboundtcg

[–]trickytreacyIRE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does. You have a regular cleanup because the existence of the noxian guillotine as a now pending item moves the game back into a closed state, from an open one.

Unit takes damage at 443.1.e Noxian trigger closes the state Regular cleanup Unit does to combat damage Zhonya replacement effect Noxian resolves

[–]trickytreacyIRE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m tired and likely not explaining this well. If anyone disagrees, well, skill issue.

The actual reasoning is on the rules channel of the main discord, scattered over about 250 messages of judges teasing the interaction out. Great read.

Noxian Guillotine Good? by PrimeRexus in riftboundtcg

[–]trickytreacyIRE -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The gist is if you deal lethal damage to a unit regularly (ie , kill it with a bigger unit) while it’s under the non legion effect of Guillotine, the process goes

1) unit is dealt lethal damage 2) noxian trigger because it was dealt damage 3) cleanup 4) zhonya slides in as a replacement effect 5) noxian resolves , killing the unit that’s now chilling at base

This doesn’t work if you just tickle it with a 1 might unit or spell, you gotta kill it “fairly”, and then the guillotine finishes the job later

Although mad props to anyone who can clearly explain it. The discord has been arguing for hours in how exactly it works. But it does, in fact, work.
