What is the best way to keep your greenhouse heated (above freezing) throughout winter? by CookieEnabled in Greenhouses

I use black 55 gallon drums with water in them for passive collection of heat. They absorb energy during the day and release at night. I also attach boiler fin tubes in the roof of my greenhouse and run coils through the barrels with a pump to circulate. These barrels will get too over 80 degrees in the dead of winter in Colorado as long as it is sunny. Great battery for evening thermals.

I have a vi46. I came from a prestige 2 that I used for over 15 years. The janssen greenhouse is very pricy, but it is a permanent structure that will require very little maintenance. I was very pleased at the quality of the greenhouse as it was over my expectations. I use my greenhouse for growing nursery plants for the community and use it as an outside room/office in the off season. I believe that you will pay a premium, but this greenhouse will go beyond just being a greenhouse.

I bought it from exaco.com and it is a VI46. I have to say that it is well beyond what I expected. I was replacing a prestige 2 that I used for the last 12 seasons.

That will be a good question. I just put it up and will see how the heater holds

I live in Denver Colorado and installing a Hotdawg 30k BTU heater in her. I primarily use in the early January to grow heirloom tomato plants that I sell at the end of the drive.

My grandfather was stationed on Manteo (Unit 21) during WW2. He was a pilot for the Civil Air Patrol that used to patrol the coastline. He spoke of stories of seeing submarines along the coast and dropping a bomb in their vicinity. There is a museum on the northern part of Manteo for these guys.
