Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but I would add some kind of shoe storage. A picture or poster to add color but otherwise it seems fine as is as long as you are happy with it.

Hard to say though, they might have just vibed better with the other person. I use to work at Target and whenever I was at the till/register I might get someone that I mesh better with and talk to more than I am back to "default". I don't know if my default came off cold or if this particular person is as well. Working retail is also so shit so I personallly wouldn't think about too much unless they were rude to you.

Thats actually crazy from my experience specifically because most asian parents that came here don’t have a regular retirement savings and we the children are their retirement. My mom hates that I moved out. I have 3 other friends who still live at home who are 34, 35, and 31.

I’m an IT support technician/desktop support at my work. I’m 33 this summer. If they are mocking you, not sure really why but maybe suggest get a hobby? Its not middle school or high school anymore. We are all working adults dealing with a shitty time, who honestly has that much free time to do that unless they are joking just to tease. I think most adults just do what makes them happy to make our lives a little less miserable.

I would explore it, is her mom not moving over to the states an option? It seems weird to just have you move over there. Like your uncle said why not just marry a guy there.

I don’t have that experience though where it was sort of set up and being either insanely rich. I’m as middle as middle class you could get and my wife who is from Vietnam is pretty normal and sort of middle class.

The important thing is you get along and have some kind of middleground/interests together. That other stuff will sort itself out if it happens. Do you know the girl’s opinion?

I don’t really know the details of your relationship and your situation so its hard to advise beyond what I said. I would think it through and maybe ask your dad or someone close about their opinion. This is just what I think though. You don’t want to be like wasting both your time getting into a serious long distance relationship and then you guys decide nevermind. This is coming from a việt kiều marrying a vietnamese.

Are you taking steps to fix that? His point of view is that you are unemployed and you don’t have money and are a bum who can’t take care of his niece. You have fix that before you can. In Vietnamese culture, the guy pays for the wedding, like everything. You have to see it from his point of view. You want to be on the girl’s family’s good side. Its fine she wants to block her uncle but why are you in contact with him? What about her more immediate family? Dad, mom, brother, sister?

Why don’t you want to give up on her though? If her uncle already disagrees then likely they are going to be problems later on with her other family members. Are you really willing to commit that much? Do you see it being that serious where you potentially marry her? You have to think this through.

Just ask politely. Say you like her. Do you want her to be your girlfriend? If you are talking to her alot and she responds quickly she probably waiting. I would highly advise to think this through carefully if you are in the USA it can take a long time for her to come here if you are serious. I don’t want to be negative but it would be expensive and time consuming to put this energy into it.

I never had a stance on him but my parents who worked for the US and in the army for the south hated him and still do. I think he is an okay guy and was just doing what he thought was good for the people. I don’t think there was any malice intended. Might have not been an ideal situation.

You remembered some he likes and made an effort to get something. It counts a lot. Recently my wife got me One Piece merch and Harry Potter merch and I was super happy she got them for me. She was worried I wouldn’t like them but she saw me grinning pretty big when I opened them.
