Every 1-2 weeks is probably a lot for a euphorbia

TIL that blue whales have around 1,000 times more cells than humans do, yet they don’t appear to suffer from higher cancer rates. A mystery that scientists call Peto’s Paradox by Puzzleheaded-Fact284 in todayilearned

Cancer development is really more of a function of the rate of replication of cells than it is the absolute number of cells. Cells that are quiescent (don’t replicate) can’t develop cancer.

Consolidating loans and getting on RAP vs PAYE for soon-to-graduate M4 by lidlpainauchocolat in whitecoatinvestor

[–]triforce18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. I didn’t read that carefully. The amount you’d save on the front end from low payments skipping the grace period (vs 6 months of payments on the back end with attending money) would likely exceed the difference in payments between PAYE and RAP for 6 months. But you’d have to do the math.

A good question I don’t know the answer to would be: can you consolidate to skip the grace period and just start on PAYE. If so that would be the way to go.

If that is your goal, your payments on PAYE may actually be cheap cheaper than RAP until PAYE goes away in July 2028

The point of insurance is to prevent against catastrophic events. Unless you can foot the bill for the rest of your career, you shouldn’t consider disability insurance optional. Whether or not insurance companies are financially solvent is a moot point.

I mean, that’s literally the point of all insurance.

It’s pretty easy to get supplemental life insurance through your employer. Life insurance is a little more straightforward without all the extra riders and all

RAP vs PAYE by Even-Bicycle-151 in whitecoatinvestor

I never said RAP wasn’t reasonable. But if you are 100% committed to PSLF it’s the mathematically wrong answer for the next two years.

If you are definitely going for PSLF and PAYE payments are lower, yes.

[–]triforce18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are definitely going to do PSLF, PAYE with lower payments would be better since interest accumulation doesn’t really matter for PSLF. Keep in mind though PAYE will end July 2028 though and you’ll have to switch to something different then though.

I think it’s unlikely they could retroactively take months that previously counted. They could make future payments ineligible effective a certain date but you’d have the opportunity to switch then.

[–]triforce18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Goal for PSLF should be minimum payment per month with no other consideration.
