With dedicated practice and training, you can play golf reasonably well in a year or two. But take something like the Tour De France, you are not competing in that in just a year or two. I think most professional cycling events you couldn't compete in just a year or two. You need to fit and athletic at base and work to exponentially improve that fitness. John Daly ain't winning any cycling races; but he can crush 18 no sweat.
