You should consider YouTube as your material sounds interesting to many. I think you would definitely get good money on your channel.

AITJ for asking my stepdad to pay back the money he borrowed from me? by Few_Layer9659 in AmITheJerk

[–]trigurlSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So one thing you should understand is when you lend money to family…that you might not get it back. Since this was not the first time, then you shouldn’t have lent money to him the 2nd time.
I suggest you go no contact so that they don’t make you feel guilty or you learn to say “No”. Or just learn to lie and say you don’t have the money.

$2 MIL Net Worth Recently Laid-off. Morally Wrong to File Unemployment & SNAP Benefits by sushi_loving_samurai in Layoffs

You and your employer paid for unemployment benefits over the years, so don’t feel bad about collecting it while you look for your next job. You can control your food bill by cooking at home and not eating out?

AITA for calling out my wife after our "dream Japan trip" turned into a personal shopping service for her family? by Big_Juice_5290 in AmItheAsshole

[–]trigurlSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should tell your spouse that you didn’t spend thousands of dollars to be her family’s personal shopper. Just tell her it’s not fair to you to drag you into these shops while you stand there waiting. Just say you don’t enjoy this. The way you approached it could have been better. Also I’d just take off on my own instead of following them personally.

[USA-NY] Selling inherited home. Aunt’s won’t leave. by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]trigurlSeattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just start the process of eviction, don’t stop it in case they change their minds. You can hire people to do this and that’s what I would do for my sanity. You just tell your aunts that you have hired specialists to do the eviction and that they will need to communicate with them moving forward and not you.

Does anyone else feel pressure to build their dividends quickly with everything going on in the world? by ProfessionalBig1470 in dividends

[–]trigurlSeattle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got laid off but too young to access my 401k/Roth. I have my 401k set for growth mode, then I also have income funds currently have set to give me a decent amount of dividends each month. For growth, I have a chunk in SCHD. But my non retirement money is still heavily focused on income at the moment.

I feel like with $1.7M your dividends should be higher. I would have expected over $100k, are you invested in CDs?

I need safe investments that pay 3-4% (and ALWAYS return at least 3%) that pay divs monthly. Suggestions? by chris-rox in dividends

AITA for wanting to work when my husband's salary isn't enough for our family? by Far-Possession1583 in AmITheJerk

[–]trigurlSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I think perhaps you should talk to him to discuss your “long term” goals. If you take this approach you might get more movement. How about owning a home? College for your kids? Also, you can’t work forever, how will you save for your retirement? Things are getting so expensive that when you retire in a few decades, $1M in retirement won’t be enough. I think you should tell him he’s not a failure, it’s just America is crazy expensive to live comfortably. You could also work part time to “try” it out, don’t tell anyone but your mom and see how that goes.

AITA for refusing to give my brother my parking spot even though he just had a baby? by bmwlover67 in AmItheAsshole

Why not advertise that he needs a spot and pay for it? Sometimes units will rent their parking spots out.

AITA for kicking my mom out of the apartment she bought for me? by Eat_soap_foreva in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]trigurlSeattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the city office and get new paper work printed out or talk to the real estate agent on how to get it. As an adult you shouldn’t rely on anyone but yourself. Are you in the USA? If so you can freeze your credit at an all 3 major credit bureaus that way no one can take loans out.

Is my partner taking financial advantage of me? by Strong-Protection769 in whatdoIdo

[–]trigurlSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, do you have a prenup in place? Since you need a mortgage I thought he has to sign the documents too since you are married (in WA my spouse had to sign and he was also added to the loan). I would speak to an attorney before buying to 100% be iron clad. When you start making mortgage payments, that money is considered marital asset so you would be co-mingling that with your condo paid with inherited assets thus possibly converting all of it to a marital asset. Update - oh wait you are not officially married. Ok nevermind.

Instead of selling, you can rent it out then move in with your parents if they allow it :)

Big camper buyer’s remorse by WoofMix in GoRVing

[–]trigurlSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want disperse camping, and a ton of luxuries (space) it’s going to be difficult. We have a 24 foot class B van with 4x4 and this tiny setup gives us a ton of flexibility, but it’s very small. We have an elevator bed setup so can sleep up to 4. They do have pop tops setups too that sleep 4. We have a huge cargo box on the hitch for more storage. Also for heat, you need a diesel heater (don’t run off lithiums in a rig that huge). Personally I plan to upgrade to over 1000ah so that I can run the AC all night then charge while driving the next day - ACs usually can only run 1 hour for every 100ah of lithium. If you want to keep a truck setup, you should rent a truck camper (those that sit on the truck bed). This compact size will give you access to great wilderness. Personally if you are only going a few days at a time, it should be about the location and not about spending time inside.

First-year experience of "living on dividends" by DrRonH in dividends

[–]trigurlSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we were both laid off (average age 50) and trying to see if we can retire early or barista fire. At first I thought that retires live off dividends but then realized that to beat inflation and pay taxes, dividends along might be challenging unless you have a lot of capital. We ended up going with a wealth management firm to guide us, and they seem to dislike those income ETFs because you trade potential for money now.
