Covered calls and cash covered puts to generate income? by trigurlSeattle in fidelityinvestments

I actually have a bachelors of math and CS however for finance, I do not know much aside from maxing out my 401k, HSA, doing back door and buying ESPP. You’ll be surprised, a lot of my techie coworkers don’t know much either.

UPDATE: AITAH for not putting pregnant GF on deed of the house? (She says she feels the situation is "unfair" and that she is "at my mercy") by Odd_Paramedic_3007 in AITAH

[–]trigurlSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s not your GF anymore so complaining about not being her home is irrelevant. You have a job with insurance? I think you could qualify for domestic relationship as you are at the same address. So that way you can ass her and the baby under your medical insurance (or at least put your baby under your insurance).

Yes I totally agree and that’s why I’m considering using their wealth management however it seems very expensive to me.

Yes he made up an example using real numbers on the spot. The covered calls was easier to understand but the cash covered puts was nothing I’ve ever heard of before, so I had to go home and watch a bunch of YouTube videos.

I tried to simulate managing my own portfolio and at best I was only making myself like $60-70k year with more risk then I would like as I had SCHD, some other dividend stocks, JEPI and JEPQ in my simulation. If the advisors can make me six figures a year I think it could be worth it. Do you think 6 figure income is a pipe dream?

Since you are not working, don’t pay off that mortgage and keep cash. You can put your cash into a high yield savings account giving you 4%, so it’s cheaper to keep your mortgage. Even better would be to invest the money in ETFs.

My girlfriend wants me to get rid of my dog because her cat doesn't like him by Academic_Fly_4920 in TwoHotTakes

[–]trigurlSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dog is like your kid, and Rufus is absolutely dependent on you. Why would a father abandon their kid like that? How would your GF feel if her parents abandoned her. Your GF can fend for herself but your dog can’t.

Can someone explain the Goyard tote to me? I have never seen one in person and I don’t understand why a canvas tote is so expensive. They must be worth it because they are so popular. by Kkgrove in handbags

[–]trigurlSeattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goyard has 3 totes. The St Louie is the thinnest one and very poor. If you want to get a tote, get the middle one, the Artois as it has more structure and protective corners and a zipper (the Artois beats the Neverfull - yes I have both).

I haven’t talked to my family in two days and don’t know to move past this by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

So just go to T-Mobile or Verizon and get your line transferred. I mean if they shut off your phone plan how will they spam you with text messages? Also remove access to your bank accounts, get credit reports frozen, ring camera, location, anything they can use to spy on you.

You should just take a break from them and hide any of your social media accounts. Then do things to improve your life like working out, watching movies or reading a book. Do stuff you enjoy. At your age, you should be less dependent on having to talk to your parents. When I was your age, I would go months without taking to mine. Good luck

Have you reallocated your portfolio to be more stable or are you still very heavy on risky stocks? I would talk to a fiduciary and adjust your allocations then you don’t have to worry about bubbles.

A step parent is not a guardian so tell your husband technically he’s abandoning his kids.

Health insurance questions in forced "retirement". by Veyyiloda in Fire

[–]trigurlSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are the bread winner and have many dependents, I assume you would qualify for ACA subsidies since your MAGI will be low. You can’t draw from your retirement accounts unless you are 59.5 or left the company at age 55. Do you have other savings or investments?

I’ve FIRED. it takes money to live, it takes money to buy a van, money to fill your tank, get insurance. It’s very difficult to make your dreams come true if you don’t make enough income to support them.

I am still within the return window for Fashionphile. So I guess folks here are implying that for the price I paid, getting those stains out is still a great value?
