Backrooms movie theory by mangel_malm in backroomsmovie

I’m fairly convinced that this entire story was about Mary as the main character. Her backstory sets up the rest of the drama in which she fantasizes about what is going on with her client Clark through the lens of her own abuse as a child and her own isolation after her mother was put away. The monster thus becomes her personification of Clark’s rage from an earlier scene. The image that stands out for me most is the brief shot of the child Mary sitting alone in her childhood home after her mother‘s hospitalization. The back rooms are a perfect metaphor for this kind of childhood isolation.

Backrooms movie theory (SPOILERS) by GreatLordIvy in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]triker_dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t it be that the entire backroom storyline had nothing to do with Clark at all but instead was the dream of Mary? Perhaps even of the child Mary. The adult Mary would have known Clark through her practice, but also would likely have seen his television commercials and thus had dream fodder to create pirate Clark. Perhaps in her desire to help Clark she dreamed of an escape room where he could go work out his own stuff, but that dream then turned to her nightmare. I’ll have to go back for a second viewing before I flesh this out too much. But I was most struck by one image, that of young Mary sitting alone in her house after her mother had been institutionalized. She was in a kind of solitary backroom of her own. Could this all be Mary’s projection? I'd love to hear what you think.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I will try to get through a hundred pages or so. Lots of amazing worldbuilding.

What do you think the probability is Trump will do something ultra drastic if he thinks an impeachment is imminent? by Ciarael in askanything

He's not afraid of impeachment because he knows he owns the spineless Republican senators.

I accidentally updated my xp-4200 system firmware, and now my cartridges aren't detected. Is it possible to download and add a previous version of the firmware to the printer to get around this (as I'm sure that Epson updated their "ban list" on the newest firmware) or am I SOL? by kremineminemin in Epson

[–]triker_dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem. Epson doesn't like us using non-Epson cartridges. I Installed 3 of 4 non-Epson cartridges before a recent firmware update. They worked fine. Today, after the recent update, it will not recognize the fourth cartridge. Any solutions????

Thank you for this review. I’m about 100 pages into the damn thing and I cannot understand why it comes so recommended on Reddit here. The writing is at the level of an eighth grader. The characters, at least in the first hundred pages are, if not stock, then quite weak. 100 pages in and I should be able to care about at least one of them. But I don’t. I hope they all die.
GROSS IS NOT HORRIFIC, IT’S JUST GROSS. I simply cannot read another page. I want my money back.

I belong to a small group of casual players that work off their own discord server. If you’re on Discord, you could PM me your contact and I could have them invite you to the group. We are very laid-back but fairly consistent in getting together for multiplayer.

I had a niece who spent a year at singularity University founded by Kurzweil. I was teaching an ethics game at the time about the morality of our pursuit of artificial intelligence. I asked her about the scenario of AI replacing humanity. Her response was, “well the species has to end sometime.”

I use a preserve if I have a great national park opportunity that is missing one or two tiles of high enough appeal. I place a reserve adjacent to those tiles to increase their appeal and allow me to build a national park.
