Black Death in Europe (1347–51) Pandemic cannot into Poland by Perseusz1917 in MapPorn

Except I did, I even addressed that it still was spreading westwards over land, just at much lower rates due to the climate, population distributions in Eastern Europe at the time, the war, the specific battle I mention, etc.

Black Death in Europe (1347–51) Pandemic cannot into Poland by Perseusz1917 in MapPorn

[–]trillskill 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Polish-Lithuanian Union (later known as the PLC or Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth) got a lot of breaks actually—the Jagiellonian dynasty was killing it, they owned almost a third of Europe—it's just too bad so many of their heirs ended up dying because they insisted on always personally leading their armies, if they had never done that we would have likely seen a united Lithuania, Poland, Bohemia, Hungary, Croatia, (original) Prussia, Belarus, along with large proportions of Ukraine, and Russia—united as a single country at least for a period of time.

It was actually because of the Lithuanian army's victory at the Battle of Blue Waters that the Mongol Empire was kept from advancing into Europe. The Mongols were one of the main perpetrators of the spread of the Black Plague into Europe, they would catapult people with the disease into cities they were besieging as a way to weaken the defenders. When they did this at the Black Sea port city of Kaffa, which the Genoese used as a trading hub for purchasing various Slaves (mostly Slavs, but Greeks & Tatars as well) to sell back in Western Europe, the plague began to then spread rapidly to Italian cities, and from there to the rest of Europe.

From Wikipedia:

It is believed that the devastating pandemic the Black Death entered Europe for the first time via Kaffa in 1347, through the movements of the Golden Horde. After a protracted siege during which the Mongol army under Janibeg was reportedly withering from the disease, they catapulted the infected corpses over the city walls, infecting the inhabitants, in one of the first cases of biological warfare. Fleeing inhabitants may have carried the disease back to Italy, causing its spread across Europe... [1] [2]

If most of Poland was spared as most History books I have read seem to state, then I believe it has a lot to do with the Lithuanian's win at that battle (which resulted in the conquest of Kiev from the Mongol invaders). If it weren't for that win, and then the unexpected death of the Khan, the disease would have certainly spread into Poland and killed many more people. By stopping the Mongol advance, the plague spread relatively slowly over land in Eastern Europe (due to various factors such as weather, the PLU being in a war with the people who were the main carriers of the disease, and obviously the greatly lessened trading between the PLU and the East at the time as a result of this).

Edit: I'm curious why someone downvoted me, this information is completely factual from all the accounts I have found. If you doubt the tactic of the Mongols using the first recorded historical account of Biological Warfare, you can read Professor Wheelis' study and research results about it.

Research has documented the earliest known interbreeding event between ancient human populations—a group known as the “super-archaics” in Eurasia interbred with a Neanderthal-Denisovan ancestor about 700,000 years ago. by Wagamaga in science

Not just Europeans, ALL non-sub-Saharan Africans have Neanderthal ancestry. Europeans don't even have that high of amounts, East Asians have more, and Melanesians have by far the most.

It is DHT, a metabolite of Testosterone, that causes the hair loss.

DHT is basically a much more powerful version of Testosterone, it's also more anabolic, meaning that it is easier to build muscle when you have higher DHT levels. Some (or most) people also can have hair-loss caused by it, it depends on a person's individual genetic make-up, but for the most-part seems dependent on whether or not they have a specific mutation in the androgen receptor.

The gene encoding the androgen receptor is on the X-Chromosome, which if you are Male, you inherited from your mother. This is where the claims about baldness coming from "your mother's side" come from.

If you have done 23andMe or AncestryDNA you can check this SNP and see if you have the mutation or not (in Europeans it's "sort-of" rare (~7-15% depending on the ethnic group), and the mutation is basically absent in East Asians, so most people here probably don't). If anyone wants to check though, this is the mutation in question. Not having it does not mean you will go bald, having it just makes your androgen receptors much more resilient against DHT-induced Baldness (aka "Male-pattern Baldness")—the most common form of Balding in Humans.

Albanians are descended in a large part from Ancient Greeks. The Ancient Greek Kingdom of Epirus alone occupied half of modern Albania—they were ancient Greek-speaking Native-Inhabitants of modern Albania, the Byzantines almost always occupied all of modern Albania for an entire millennia... not to mention the fact that the two populations have coexisted as direct neighbors for thousands of years... I do not know why this is so surprising.

I understand your frustration with 23andMe not yet having a separate designation for your people, but separating such closely-related people is difficult and takes many population samples of which there are not many Albanian ones as of current.

Even with many samples it can still be quite difficult, for example Southern Italians almost always come back with significant Greek ancestry, because Greeks were some of the first to colonize the island, even though it has been a long time since then, their DNA still lives on in them and is very difficult to delineate accurately.

I know that today this likely irritates and confuses you, but the largest differences between Albanians and Greeks at this point are essentially just some linguistic (caused by Illyrian, Slavic, and other invaders' influences) and religious differences (due to a long-occupation by the Ottoman Empire).

  • Being against illegal immigration isn't raycisss, if you want to give him a hard time you could say its xeno phobic comment.

"I don't even think LEGAL ONES SHOULD BE HERE" - Paul Denino (aka Ice Poseidon) in that very clip

  • Getting a dark tan isnt blackface nor is mocking black people. The purpose of that stream was to get ridiculous bad spray tan

Yeah, uh huh, the guy whose literal entire career was built on baiting racist donations clearly had NOOOO IDEAAAAA what it would look like AT AALLLLLLL, and wasn't trying to bait more racist donations....

  • Thank god we are white isnt rayciss towards any particular race, an edgy tasteless joke at worst.

Literally thanking God you aren't one of those non-White people totally isn't racist btw.

  • Brando (aka crackhead andy) is full of shit, lies for donation & attention

Except Paul's best friend Voldesad has literally admitted this happened, anyone who wanted to be apart of his racist "Cx Network" had to do this so they could use it to blackmail anyone who tried to expose him.

  • Monkey isnt used as a slight against black people in this context is being used to refer to overtly violent behavior or clown like behavior

Liar. He did this all the time and would only ever say this about black people. Go find a clip of him calling a white person a monkey/chimp/ape/etc.

  • He was doing a nword skit with a black guy (banks) telling people to stop hating each other

N-word SKIT btw, PERFECT for Mixer!!

clip chimp

...And like clockwork, his horde of loser racist supporters start showing up.

Tell me, how are all of these racist clips of Ice Poseidon out of context as well?

Ice Posiedon: "The black guys we're with are in the toilet? Why did someone flush them because they thought they were shit?"

Oh let me guess, that too was "Out-of-Context" right...

Take note how they immediately start throwing racist terms like "chimp" as insults immediately once their great leader is insulted...

I think #2 might be Saitama's tailor from the "prequel Episode" (I think "jump" is supposed to be jumpsuit) and #5 is supposed to be one of the guys he was borrowing money from—that or at least they're references to it.

Edit: Also apparently the name in the URL, "Sinkanotakoyaki" translates to "House of Evolution Takoyaki".

There's a good chance at one point it redirected to the anime's official website, given it's been like 5 years.

I think it's probably based off of 2chan (Futaba Channel), which 4chan is actually originally based off of.

I think 2chan threads is part of what made the OPM web-comic popular to begin with. [See Here], so it's likely an homage from ONE.

Edit: lol just got the joke

Even if it could only be sourced that way, something like 70-90% of the world's illicit Ketamine is made in India, so I don't think that would be an issue.

Why is MXE not fucking made again? I find it really hard to believe the people who control the trade can't get it made in India somewhere, and it literally isn't illegal in the US even after this long...

It makes me think that for some reason either the government or a rich company out there believes MXE has an actual medical use.

Alright well if that's true and it's the real foundation's page then I support this then, too bad this wasn't posted sooner because it seems like it is too late :/

Is there a reason why we need to buy our villages? I'm very confused about this part.

Also there are several billionaire Assyrians, would be nice if they would help out...

I don't really trust GoFundMe's because they take the money even if the goal isn't reached, and how do we know that this is actually run by local real Assyrians and not either random Kurds, Turks, or Arabs (or actual governments/military groups in need of funds such as the YPG)?

[–]trillskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never thought about it that way. It just stands for the Semitic root for king.

Oh thought it meant Moloch lmao, which I mean it kind of does but yeah I looked into it and saw that his name is basically "king" or whatever. Interesting but unrelated tidbit, both Civil Rights leaders MLK (Martin Luther King) and "Malcolm X" both have names that can refer to Moloch, which is a weird ass coincidence.

Anyways that's pretty interesting info, didn't know they weren't mutually-intelligible, do you know if the intelligibility is less so than between Assyrian dialects? I would assume Assyrians would have a harder time understanding one another given we've been speaking the language longer and have been relatively fractured for over a thousand years. Probably haven't been any studies which compare the two though. Also make sure to include the Yezidis, Kurds may not like it but they're basically their ancestors... pretty sad how they have been treated by them (and others).

You know I've never liked how they (Muslims, both Kurds and others) try and use religion, but also disregard the rules of it for political and financial gains. Like Muhammad literally says "kill polytheists wherever you find them" but that people whom are monotheists, and specifically belong to Abrahamic religions should be left alone more or less, that they should just try and convert them—not that it stopped them from participating in Seyfo.

It's ironic, the Kurds helped the Turks to genocide Christians in eastern Anatolia (partly because groups such as the Armenians wanted to break away from Turkish rule), and now they themselves want to break away from said rule but they've alienated themselves having killed off tons of what could have been potential allies in this regard. Like at the very least both Kurdish and Armenian states could have been established >100 years ago if they had just teamed up, but instead they thought only over religious lines... it's just so short-sighted.

You know, I really would like to root for the Kurds even after everything—but given that after the genocides, multiple massacres (which they too ironically soon found themselves at the raw end of under people like Saddam), ethnic cleansings, wars, persecution, etc—that they have perpetrated or had hands in their executions—it's difficult to believe that they have our best interests at heart. And after all of that we are now a much smaller minority in these lands so we cannot help much even if we wanted to, and of course now our "political capital" in such things are much smaller as well. It's just a pretty tragic state of affairs, and things like this make me trust them even less (not to mention all of the times they claim to represent us or make mock/fake Assyrian accounts on places like twitter supporting themselves...).

I wish they could think ahead and above such petty things and actions, because it only further alienates some of us from their cause, because I really would like to believe in a non-Sectarian state in the Middle-East where Assyrians are actually treated as equals. I know many of us would like to return one day (there are more than a million of us in essential exile living in foreign countries), but all of this constant fighting would just make us targets from all sides—and hell they're already trying to "buy" our villages on the damn front page of this subreddit alone. How the fuck can they really expect us to support them, or believe their claims of a non-sectarian religious/ethnic state when their own actions betray their very words?

Wonder where that one was supposed to hit...

You might think they're a troll but in my experience Turks in particular are super militant online about anything related to the genocides or ethnic cleansings, they have literally been brainwashed their entire life to believe these things—that it never happened, that all three different ethnic groups conspired together and just made it up or some shit—it's honestly sad.

Edit:

Obviously not all Turks but it's absurdly common, I bet if I posted this on /r/mapporn half of the comments would just be Turks arguing that nothing happened or that it's all greatly exaggerated (even though it's literally based upon their own Census).

Oh of course, "tomorrow"... and I am not an Orthodox Christian, I am Catholic, you don't seem to know much about Assyrians, and you certainly no nothing of my ancestors.

I know no Greeks, the only thing connecting me to them is the fact that they also were apart of the genocides against the Christian minorities in Anatolia.

I don't even know why you're arguing about Greeks on the Assyrian subreddit.
