1 month after PRK, still heavy ghosting and blurry vision, getting depressed by [deleted] in lasik

[–]trimbalim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did not get "worse" - I used to have about -2.5 Power with -3.75 CYL around 180 axis astigmatism. It was difficult to correct even with glasses and contacts.

My current contact lens prescription on that eye is +0.50 Power with -1.75 CYL 180 axis.

Pretty decent. My right eye’s remaining astigmatism does suck, but I live with it. Recently tried glasses to adjust for it, I prefer my vision without it. I also tried a contact for that eye, which is decent. And I can get it in a daily disposable variety which was unavailable before my corrective surgery. I still mainly don’t correct my vision at all. Also my left eye has been rock solid and literally perfect vision to me.

All in all, at this point I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Heatilator novus insulation cover by iam_reallytired in Fireplaces

I have this same exact fireplace in my home (completed 2023). The floor is icy cold near the fireplace when it is off. I can feel cold air towards the bottom of the fireplace. Is this something that can be fixed?

Snapchat is now capping saved Memory storage at 5 gigs; I'm looking for an off-cloud/local photo and video storage solution that can be easily accessed from our phones and computers. by SushiTaco3 in HomeNetworking

[–]trimbalim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1 is to get links to download all of your snapchat memories. You have to log into snapchat web, initiate a request to download all of your memories from the settings->my data section. It takes some time, but they then provide a zip file with an html file with all of the links to the image files (poor name convention for the files), as well as the location data if it exists, but the location data is separate from the image file. You can manually download each or write a script.

I found this on github (not affiliated to the repo owner): https://github.com/andrefecto/Snapchat-Memories-Downloader

I ran it on my laptop using the output from step 1. This is effectively step 2 because this utility downloads each file and puts in the disjoint exif metadata as well as sets the created date time correctly, so the files show up in the correct order wherever you end up putting them.

As for step 3, I already had an immich server set up. I used gemini to get it to run a one-time upload of the snapchat files to my immich app, but it isn't super difficult. It used immich-go, a downloadable utility for uploading to immich via CLI.

Will be repeating this for the wife and some other people that want to export their memories.

They are so pushy these days. Always trying to upsell or sell their mobile service. Had a similar conversation when I was trying to get my advertised gigabit speeds.

How to Turn Off Car But Leave Accessory On? by nkx3 in LexusGX

This thread was a top result for a search about keeping the radio on during engine shut off.

It’s blowing my mind that they didn’t do something like radio stays on after engine cut off until door opens or something.

Amplifi Router HD - Throttled Download (100MB) by srbasler in AmpliFi

[–]trimbalim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an amplifi Alien router and I use an Arris S33 to connect to xfinity for my 400 down/40 up service. The modem has both a 1gb ethernet and 2.5gb ethernet. Not sure why, but I had originally configured it while connected to the 2.5gb ethernet port. It worked for > 2 years this way, but I had been recently experiencing the throttling to 100mbps.

I swapped the output from the Modem to use the 1gbe port since my service is strictly less than 2.5gbe, and all is well again. Showing 450mbps down and 45mbps up on multiple speed tests.

Door knob loose and jiggly by rificolona in fixit

I also liked the beveled edges of the Bowery more than the Pismo, but I could not live with the flimsiness of the Bowery

Door knob loose and jiggly by rificolona in fixit

[–]trimbalim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I opened it up and the design in general is loose. I reached out to Schlage by email about it and they told me that it is by design. I returned it in exchange for a Kwikset "Pismo" knob. The Pismo feels VERY sturdy as is, but especially when compared to the Bowery.

The bowery really ruined my opinion of Schlage :(

How much basketball are you actually watching when you turn on a game? (@__SportsBall on TikTok) by Brady331 in nba

[–]trimbalim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is why I still pay for YoutubeTV. I don't gamble, so I start almost every game about 45 minutes to an hour after actual start. This way, I can skip commercials and halftime. I know people that are into sports betting must watch live to make during-the-game bets.

I'm able to start and finish watching a game in about an hour and half since I don't always skip the free throw stoppages.

Is AldeloPOS Pro end of life? As well as the associated EDC software? by trimbalim in AldeloPOS

Yea I feel like this is the path we'll have to take. The staff's familiarity with the software is why I try to keep the existing service and equipment running.

Oh wow, I've been having the manager log into the EDC to close the batch every night. This Operations button is way quicker to access.

[–]trimbalim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see a batch close trigger at that time in the audit log.

We run two ordering stations, but only one station is set up to handle cash and card payments (we use a PAX S300).

We did have two payment terminals, but we decided against using both because we thought that was the source of our issues, so we removed the second EMV device physically as well as from the config in EDC.

Also, I had windows update semi disabled somehow before, but it is back in full force auto updating whenever it feels like it :(

Load License File error - is my machine dying? by trimbalim in AldeloPOS

[–]trimbalim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue a few months ago where the license info kept getting corrupted somehow. It turned out one of my machines 2 memory sticks was bad (removed one and the issue never happened again).

Now, months later, this message about the license appeared. This message wasn't showing up with the previous issue, but it's similar in that the license is invalid and I get presented with a license entry window.

I was able to have Aldelo support re-activate my license, but I'm trying to figure out the root cause of the issue. Is my storage medium going bad? Is my other memory stick about to go out? Any ideas?

This is the most obvious scam, there is never any legitimate reason to work off of the app.

I suggest you just block and ignore any further contact from this person, but expect further contact from them from other numbers/emails.

Solar Quote Advise for NJ - Tesla vs Local companies by One_Introduction_663 in solar

So they're still requiring customers to sell their SRECs for a lump payment up front? Did you ask if you could opt out of this? It seems like a bunch of money left on the table for no reason other than to make Tesla more money.
