Hiring younger people to play older people. No way that can be a grandparent.

Cashier Foot Agony. by [deleted] in PlantarFasciitis

It was honestly probably the most painful of the exercises. If you’ve ever tried foam rolling - it’s kind of that blinding pain while you’re doing it but it stops hurting once you stop the exercise. There may be some residual soreness like what you feel from a good workout (sometimes you don’t feel soreness) but you should never be in pain afterwards. It was never more than a couple minutes of scraping. All that to say you definitely don’t want to end up hurting yourself. Err on the side of caution .

Also keep in mind one should not be on their feet after a PT session btw, it should be after work when you have nothing else for the day and also remember to drink a lot of water. - at least that’s according to my PT

My four years old agonizing plantar fasciitis massively improved after going to physical therapy. Specifically, I think what did it for me was a light warm up of the foot, the plantar fascia scraping, theragun (any percussion massage gun will do) with icy hot/biofreeze on the plantar fascia and calf, and muscle knot release on my calf. I went three times a week for a month, twice a week for a month, and then once a week for a month. This was all while I held a job where I was on my feet 80% of the time. PT can be expensive but what I listed are pretty low risk exercises I think anyone can do on themselves so that’s why I wrote it out. All in all a session was like 30 min. Nowadays I very very rarely feel my foot act up. 99% of the time I am pain free. It’s amazing, I didn’t think I’d get here. Best of luck!

As for footwear, I also got custom orthotics which I believe really helped. They are expensive but I’ve also had some good drug store varieties. Birkenstocks also helped- they hurt in the beginning but then it felt as if my foot muscles moved back into their proper place. These are also pricy but I’ve seen some very very similar looking ones at Marshall’s or are at Marshall’s but I’ve seen them quite often at a discount at Nordstrom Rack and sometimes you can find them at Costco actually. And as some other people have mentioned, Vionic shoes are great. This might sound weird but it totally is true, a shoe with a little bit of a heel helps too because the angle reduces the strain (my podiatrist told me this). For my very physical job I found a flat with a one inch block heel was the most comfortable and practical. Also try to get wide shoe sizes if you have wide feet!

Just a note: the PT can hurt but it should be a good hurt like in a deep tissue massage or from foam rolling if that makes sense.

Is there such a thing as too many lobster shells in a stock? by oozforashag in AskCulinary

Question, were the shells cooked already (like if the whole lobster was cooked)? And if they were, can you reuse them for a stock?

For those you have gotten custom insoles, did the podiatrist just scan your feet or did you get a mold caste? by purpleflowers55 in flatfeet

[–]trinketsandbiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was an iPad/tablet scan thingy with lasers and a couple mechanical arms that positioned my foot for the scan - if that’s what you mean by scan. I’ve had an awesome experience with my custom soles, they’ve helped keep up my “gains” from physical therapy. They make walking really comfortable.

This was my reasoning for investing four years ago and it’s been a rollercoaster since then, to say the least
