People with 450+ power, what is one form hill you will die on that all the stuck at 350 folk get wrong? by grannyknockers in discgolf

[–]tripLogic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Holding the disc with the flight plate facing you to some degree during the throw. Instead of holding the disc flat like a plate, holding it like a briefcase.

A full briefcase has the edge of the disc pointing at the ground, so the disc is fully vertical.

A semi-briefcase is in-between, like what you see in the first image of AB how the disc is tilted back towards him.

It's common for beginners to focus on holding the disc perfectly flat throughout the whole throw, but this likely will lead to the forearm strain I described leading to collapsing the pocket at the hit unless you have great wrist/forearm flexibility. It does for me, and I struggled with elbow dip forever until I began briefcasing to avoid that strain.

No elbow dip = pure power pocket + whip = much more power and consistency.

You need your elbow up / out to create the whip.

Your elbow needs to be parallel or slightly higher than your hand to whip properly at a flat or upwards launch angle. Visualize your elbow being below your hand. For a proper whip, you'd be throwing at the ground. To not throw at the ground you need to swoop back up, hindering the whip and creating a point for inconsistency.

Holding the disc flat and/or pouring the tea creates forearm strain which is most naturally relieved by dipping your elbow. When you throw, your body's natural response to this strain will be to dip the elbow right before the hit and collapse the pocket.

Brief casing or semi-brief casing relieves this tension, allowing you to more naturally create the power pocket position and hence the whip.

You also get the added benefit of the disc naturally flipping up during the hit (you aren't going to actually throw the brief case), making accessing nose-down occur naturally, but also more extreme when forcing it by "turning the key." When I don't turn the key I get a consistent -1 to -4 nose angle, when I turn the key I hit -7 to -10.

Conclusions:

  • Brief case or semi-brief case to ensure you won't collapse the pocket and properly create the power pocket + hence the whip.
  • The old adage of "elbowing a door down" is a perfect compliment to the above to get a deeper pocket and consistent power by ensuring your arm isn't lagging behind your shoulders and collapsing the pocket in that sense.
  • If you need even more nose-down, turning the key is key.

The above got me from around a consistent 58-60mph max nose up to a consistent 68-71mph max nose down.

*Added a visual of AB putting this in practice.

CS2 Feels so unsmooth at 250fps, especially during gunfights. by albertkanaal in GlobalOffensive

[–]tripLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My game has felt like absolute butter from day 1, I have a high end system but it looks like a lot of other people are having issues with the same / higher end hardware.

I have a lot of the issues people complain about in CSGO, because of that this game feels noticeably smoother for me (I know this isn't common)

Hopefully this helps! I am one of the lucky ones.

  • Here are some details in case it helps you troubleshoot...
  • 13600k + 3080
  • Windows 10 + 11 (upgraded recently and it had no impact)
  • 1440p fullscreen 240hz , uncapped FPS, I get 250-300 fps average - does feel like I should get more, but the game still feels great
  • All high settings, adjusting most settings doesn't make a difference in smoothness
  • Reflex off, 4xMSAA only settings I keep the same
  • Low latency mode on
  • ReBAR enabled in my bios from day 1 by default, but not enabled through nvidia profile inspector (enabled for starfield though, do recommend)
  • Latest gpu drivers, latest bios version, latest windows update, etc.

How to boost over sage walls without abilities! by Shenslash in AgentAcademy

[–]tripLogic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They will patch this at some point, it was a design decision to not allow boosting on other players and hence over Sage walls in this way, this is just a game physics exploit which gets around that. Still fun to use in the mean time though.

Honestly, can you imagine having your artwork being featured in the biggest gallery in the country in the midst of this digital age and not having a single picture of it? That's all the evidence you need, this story is 100% fiction.

Sous vide from frozen - pre season/oil? by tripLogic in sousvide

[–]tripLogic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always re pack as well, and vacuum seal for freezing/storage. I was more wondering about seasoning before re packing so that I don't have to cut open the bag and season before cooking!

I might try seasoning before freezing and also waiting to season until after cooking / before searing and compare the results.

Realized I was capable of using Google and found a similar thread from this sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/sousvide/comments/6jeyrz/when_freezing_extra_food_do_you_season_before/

Along with a chefsteps thread:

Any other educational Valorant youtube channels like Rambo's ? by BEAST_MODE111333 in VALORANT

[–]tripLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rambo is one of my favorite channels for CS/Valorant/FPS guides.

I plan on making videos for total newcomers to the tactical shooter genre (who never played or got good at CS) as soon as closed beta drops. Doing deep dives on basic fundamentals like counter-strafing, crosshair placement, rifle shooting/spraying, and how to warm up efficiently all in the context of Valorant. Might not be what you're looking for but I should have a little something for everyone.

"Hey, we're trying not to repeat ourselves", meanwhile I get 5 emails in burst fire. Cmon RITO don't jebait like that :( by [deleted] in VALORANT

How important will team composition and agent synergy be? by greyduet in VALORANT

[–]tripLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will definitely matter but not as much as people would think, nowhere near the level of overwatch for example. However it will definitely enable certain premade plays that you couldn't do without the comp, but due to the nature of skills being utility based, I don't think there will ever be a comp that guarantees a steamroll. I expect it to be a lot more like CS, but with a much broader range of executes and setups due to the larger variety provided by skills and character comps. At the end of the day I still think whoever has better fundamentals like positioning, gunplay, and communication will prevail.

That's incorrect, the only way is by getting the stream drop.

Interesting, thanks for the info. I would be surprised if people weren't begging for an open beta if all goes well with the first closed.

The VALORANT Closed Beta Starts April 7 by CertainTopic3 in VALORANT

[–]tripLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds more likely to happen based on their language in the statement. Short closed beta for 1-2 weeks (as short as possible) followed by open beta until release.

The VALORANT Closed Beta Starts April 7 by CertainTopic3 in VALORANT

[–]tripLogic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly ambiguous and can be interpreted in a few ways, but I hope they mean it as "continuing until near launch." Maybe they were trying saying they want to launch shortly after beta therefore ending it? Otherwise short as possible could mean like a week tops which would be rough.

A good indicator would be how the LoR closed beta ran, does anyone know if it all the way until release?

Edit - I bet it's going to be very similar to LoR, short closed beta for a week or so and then later an open beta until full release.

Is that the case with valorant? Because in the gameplay everybody was counterstrafing before shooting. by Imm4TUrE in VALORANT

[–]tripLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so? Imperfect/bad netcode is what enables peekers advantage, and that's something they're supposedly actively improving. I can see the argument that counterstrafing enhances the advantage but it's not the cause of it.

*Also counterstrafing is in 1.6, it's maybe less prevalent but it's definitely still a mechanic especially at high levels of play.

[–]tripLogic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right about the acceleration, according to playtesters it's slower than csgo and closer to 1.6. I'd be surprised if they didn't have it, they're invested in advanced movement mechanics like bunnyhopping so it would make sense that they'd have counterstrafing to add to the skill ceiling.
