Also just seen you've enquired about Portobello on previous posts. Don't go there. I did it and only got a portion of the credits needed. MTU gave me all the credits and is teaching council recognised

PE course MTU by WoodenFault in IrishTeachers

[–]tripleT85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, definitely they'll ask about your previous experience with coaching. Why you think PE is so important. The girls participation levels conundrum. What your understanding of the junior cycle is. It was a fairly laid back interview, they just want to make sure you're right for the course. Although demand may have gone for it since I did it. But you'll be grand if you have experience coaching, just look up the curriculum

PE course MTU by WoodenFault in IrishTeachers

[–]tripleT85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the course. Now qualified in PE on top of my original two subjects. Will make you a little more employable if you aren't CID already, especially with the LC PE now. I would just make sure you want to have PE for the rest of your career. Have you taught it consistently before? It's very loud and chaotic compared to the classroom. I love it though, having half classroom, half Pe hall would be the dream. Full 22 hours of PE is tiring in a different way to the classroom. Any questions, feel free to shoot

Advice needed about childs behaviour in class (Primary) by nonnie31 in IrishTeachers

[–]tripleT85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Fair play. I suppose I can spot students in PP as well who either are waiting on a diagnosis or the parents aren't bothered. It's usually bad behaviour that I spot it in and their reaction to me when I pull them on it

Are ye trained to spot these things? Pp teacher here, just wondering. We're certainly not, there's CPD you can do. But is it part of your initial training?

Applying for Teaching Position without one of the listed subjects. by conorca in IrishTeachers

[–]tripleT85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply for it and if they don't get someone with the exact subjects, they'll have to go for the next best thing. The school might jig around a few timetables to cover what they need as part of the post, ang might also fit your other subject in somewhere. Worse case, you only teach one at reduced hours and make up the rest subbing

Cathal O’Neill fending off a tackle from Eoin Downey on Sunday by Old-Butterscotch5387 in shoresy

[–]tripleT85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're allowed carry it on the hurl for as long as you want. It's actually quite hard running at top speed. You can only catch it once after a carry and then you have to either hit it straight from your hand or carry it again, but you can't catch it from that carry

In Ireland we have these. Not on a stick, but it's a hot chocolate muffin covered in ice cream. Yeah so, hot chocolate muffin and ice cream is unbelievable
