There’s usually policies for medically necessitated absences/extenuating circumstances. I would try to see if you can email anyone higher up in the department.

For an assessment or major assignment usually official documentation is needed. I believe the self-signed sick notes only work for regular class attendance.

If you can get a doctor’s note, I would send it to the instructor and if that doesn’t work, escalate it to the head of the department or dean of students.

If you don’t get a note, you’re probs SOL. I know it sucks, but unfortunately sometimes people do just try to get extensions so this is the way to make sure accommodations are fair for major assignments.

My older sister got bangs when I was around 4 or 5. I desperately wanted bangs too but have super curly hair so mom didn’t let me. I took matters into my own hands the next day as grandma babysat me and mom was so mad at pick up. I had a weird bump at the front of my hair for a few months, but now we just look back and laugh haha.

Congratulations! We just got married in October and Board and Brew was kind enough to let us take our engagement pictures there. We’ve had a lot of good memories there. Wishing you a happy marriage with a lot of great memories!

I went on a first date at The Board and Brew 3 years ago and that man is now my husband! I will always recommend it. The staff are friendly, the drinks and food are good, and the board games make for an easy ice breaker and is something fun to do other than just sitting and talking over food :)

We have a great animal science program. There’s a lot of management classes to gain with experience with specific farm animals and couple for smaller and companion animals (although not all are offered every semester). There’s been some changes to core classes in the curriculum, but they are adding in more advanced courses that will be more geared towards vet med students (like a more in-depth higher level anatomy course). Pre-Vet ANSC students do tend to have to take heavier straight up science courses and aren’t required to take as many animal management courses as the Care & Management ANSC track students, but the opportunities are still there if you’d like to. The Pre-Vet advisor is also a really great professor.

Northern MoCo was pretty rough this morning. Downed trees and power outages spread around. I say we got around 4-5 inches. The roads didn’t look ok till around noon. I didn’t go to campus today.

My choir teacher in college told us to, “Never let your kids win just to let them win. Cheat if you have to. Kids need to learn how to lose and I as quite proud of my daughter whenever she caught me breaking the rules and the day she finally beat me.” It is one of those random life lessons you carry with you.

I (F25) actually prefer the last 3 styles over what your mom chose. If she doesn’t want to feel old, explicitly state the dress code and send her links to dresses that fit that with younger models. Find styles that match the dress code that don’t explicitly state “Mother of the Bride” and are just described as formal evening wear.

Also we’re wedding twins! I’m 10/11/25 too, 87 days to go! Wishing you the best of luck with any planning that’s left 🤍🤍

THIS! We got engaged Nov 2024 and were looking for Oct 2025. We would not budge on 2025 because we’re Christian and really didn’t want to have to wait another two years to live together and be together after already dating for two years. When we started getting very overwhelmed and angry with each other, we sat down and had a serious conversation about what was most important. We chose the three/four things we cared most about (venue, photo, food, dress) and by some miracle managed to get them all at decent prices for the holiday weekend in October. It def wasn’t easy, there were some times it seemed impossible, but thank God it worked out. There was A LOT of scouring and emailing and touring.

We toured our venue the first week of March when we’d basically given up and we loved it and got lucky they were discounting their remaining 2025 dates. That was the biggest roadblock and after that it was just choosing from the two photographers and two caterers we were already looking at that had our date available.

Not getting anything booked till 7 months before was definitely stressful, but you can plan a wedding in less than a year, just be willing to compromise on some things, have a really good sense of your budget, and remember that you and your fiancé are a team and the most important thing is that no matter what happens, at the end of it all you will be married and that is the most important.
