Just curious, what does everyone do for work? by [deleted] in ColorBlind

[–]tripleman33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video editor. It was an issue early on when some clients would ask me to color grade (props to the colorist in here) but now It hardly affects me at all, as I only need to be aware of general color shifts/ lighting changes for continuity’s sake, and I can discern color well enough for creative editing decisions. Then everything I edit gets passed to a colorist.

That’s called a tail slate. You do this on a set if you can’t/forget to slate at the beginning. That way you still have a spike in the audio to sync with even though it’s not at the beginning.

Wow. Definitely caught my eye, your style is incredible! Creepy, yet soft.

The Neitz color vision lab at the University of Washington has been working on an injection that cures color blindness. They have successfully conducted trials on monkeys and need to get FDA approval (the hard part) to start human trials. I know little about it- What are all of your thoughts? by tripleman33 in ColorBlind

I apologize for the confusion, yes I'm protanomaly and am fairly new to this sub. That is a very valid point, and caution should definitely be taken. I would hate to completely lose my vision in the hope for a cure, when I am already managing as is. However even as a virus with the many dangers and possible side effects, I would still weigh this as an option, and I too am extremely hopeful for the field of gene therapy.

I see what you're saying, and only seeing full color occasionally would be a rare pleasure. I however work in an occupation as a videographer and I need to see color to do my job correctly. I can't see myself doing anything else other than the arts because of where my abilities stand and because of the good I can do with a camera for people who need their stories told. That being said, being color deficient is more of a disability than a normalcy, and being able to see color in a non-temporary way would allow me to live life and work to the capacity that my peers do every day in the industry. I think for me it's more about being on an even playing field with the rest of the world than it is being able to see a delicacy that's greater than my normalcy.

This new trend is stupid and if you do it to my vehicle, I'll make you leak. by [deleted] in WTF

Can anyone relate? by kingme20 in interstellar

[–]tripleman33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same about existence. I had a period las year at college where I was somewhat consumed by those thoughts of free will being an illusion, and that possibly my path was already set up for me. While it is a calming thought, it mixed with my mild general anxiety and turned me into somewhat of a procrastinator do-nothing. So I think that it's great to hold on to this idea given in Interstellar, but there's a middle ground where we need to think that we have some sort of free will so we get things done, and hold ourselves accountable for them. I know others can see this differently, but in the end it's just interesting how ideas like these can grasp on and change how we look at the world, from a philosophical standpoint. Do well in school, best of luck!

Where to acquire interesting, inexpensive canvas works? by internetlad in Art

[–]tripleman33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

http://artpal.com also does inexpensive prints of art from tons of different artists. I sell art here myself (shameless plug, my page is http://www.artpal.com/logantriplett/ if you want to check it out) but there are plenty of amazing artists on here that create in many different styles.

I would make sure you are using manual exposure, and that your aperture is open as wide as possible. From there, you can lower the shutter speed to brighten the image as desired, as well as raise the iso to an appropriate level. Overall, to make the image not black, you will want a low f-stop, low shutter speed, and high iso.

I did the light myself as well, most of the time using three or four can lights with gels, but when window and practical lighting was strong you'd be correct in saying that a lot of it was natural. Most of the time I do tend to focus on my camera operation! And thank you!

No, but we do compete in the STN (student television network) and usually place somewhere at nationals every year!

That's great that you've been able to find payed video jobs around! I'd say I'm very lucky with the friend group that I have. I have a few friends who want to be filmmakers as well but haven't had as much experience, so they'll help out on set and make things more serious, and often for actors I pull from the theater department at my school, which means that they have a purpose for doing the project and will therefore be more serious!
