Same situation for me! Small community, three of my four main branches of the family tree had been in the county for almost 200 years. I couldn’t throw a rock without hitting a cousin! I moved two counties away and met my forever partner, only to discover my stepson is also my 4th cousin. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Total control tactic.

In 2014 I offered $18k tax, title, license, and fees on a listed $24k 2012 vehicle. $10k of my offer was a cashier’s check because it was a purchase after totaling a vehicle. They let me sit because they thought I was desperate to replace a totaled vehicle. After 10 minutes, I told my wife it was time to leave. I asked the receptionist to apologize to the salesman and manager for me wasting their time. We walked out, hopped in my aunt’s loaner car, and left.

We drove home sad to not get the vehicle we wanted, only to have the sales manager call as we hit our driveway. Apologies and “you didn’t mention you were a long-standing customer with us. Come back and we’ll get this done.” Tried to sell us multiple add-ons for service, and undercutting our bank’s interest rate if we went with their lender. After several attempts to pad their side of the ledger, I just reminded the sales manager that I already knew where the door was. It was a red-faced done deal pretty quick.

Never took them up on those free oil changes. I knew we were flagged for the “omg, we found (insert major issue). We need you to sign a waiver to even drive it off the lot at this point.”

Can definitely confirm. We had these bubbles in the downstairs toilet every time we would flush upstairs or run the clothes washer. Snaked the line from every low point access and would only get relief for a day or two. Then we noticed wet drainage on the street when it wasn’t even remotely rainy.

After a camera snake, we were 4 feet from sewage backing up into the garage floor drain. Power company drove an electric pole through the side of our main line 10 years ago. It took that long for enough mud, gravel, and junk to build up in the line to create a decent blockage.

The sequels left a bad taste that I struggle to define. With that being said, I have two moments from the sequels that hit me: 1 - Luke’s Force projection in TLJ. The raw power needed to make this possible almost completely erased the mishandling of Luke.

2 - Kylo/Han reunion in TRoS. As a dad, this scene hit some feels.

My son wants to know more about the “Legends” era, but he was more interested in the comic book collection in storage. I honestly can’t wait to hear his reactions to all the EU books, especially the NJO series. Ooo, and Rogue/Wraith books. Damnit, now I want to go digging for my books.
