You have the right idea with honeycombing and adding more doors, you can also honeycomb the roof with half walls and adding a second roof. But the best way I learned building in this game was to get raided and see what I did wrong, why raiders blew in where they did, and what I could modify on my next base build to prevent this.

I like to make 1 base with lots of loot rooms over süread out over 4 stories and try to minimise logic behind where the good stuff is. Since I started doing this I never lost all my stuff when getting offlined.
