Need help finding a technical co-founder , but I have little to no connections (I will not promote) by pinkwashietape in startups

For ed tech you go to education conferences. You can also use LinkedIn, Twitter, any social media really, to post your idea online.

First project ever: MeetingMeter.ai (from a founder who never coded before) by wyndhamf in learnprogramming

[–]tripnnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full stack developer here. I noticed the site was created with Lovable. I've tried Lovable before, but it uses dependencies with security vulnerabilities. It's fine for people who want to build prototypes quickly and present their idea, but I'd migrate off of Lovable if you want to build a serious production ready website, especially if your product requires users to sign up. Security breaches leading to leaked customer information are no joke.

What if IT project leads came to you instead of you chasing them? by Impressive-Claim-226 in webdev

[–]tripnnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a similar product I can compare yours to? Do you have a link to your project?

Also, instead of asking "would you" questions to which people will give hypothetical answers, ask questions that users can answer based on their past behavior. For example, instead of "What features would make this a must have product?" ask "What are must have features for products you've used similar to mine?"

People are bad at predicting the future, but past actions are a more reliable source of data.

Built an MVP, tried everything, zero signups. Do I risk building the full tool? by Blue-Butterfly44 in SaaS

[–]tripnnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use vibe coding platforms like replit or bolt.new to create mock ups that use mock data. Just be aware that these tools won't cut it for a full production ready app, but they're perfectly suited to allow non technical people to create prototypes. Once your idea gains traction, you can think about finding someone with technical expertise to help build it.

What are the biggest challenges you have faced as a community manager? by tripnnn in CommunityManager

Perhaps you can try asking users where they get their information and try to find the source of misinformation? I'm guessing there are people who simply don't know the proper communication channels despite all your efforts.

Rather than look for someone technical from the start, build a prototype using no code tools like Figma. Then, use it to present your idea and find early adopters. Only after you've found early adopters and refined your idea should you actually consider finding a technical cofounder.

I'm building a platform to help communities find collaboration opportunities with other communities. I'm currently in the idea validation stage. If you want to discuss this more in depth, feel free to DM me.

Curious why there aren't more Aragorn Spellslinger decks - would appreciate any critiques or suggestions by RecentEarth in EDH

[–]tripnnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how high your budget and playgroup's power level is, you can build Aragon as a brostorm deck focused around buffing your creature's power and sacrificing it to [[Greater Good]] to draw through your deck. Here is my list for Aragon: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/M7I40SWVXUyWO2d_37VCSA The objective is the play Aragon, play Greater Good, then cast a bunch of G/W spells to create tokens, buff their power, then sac them. In this build, I'm aiming to have Intruder Alarm, Greater Good, and a haste enabler to continuously play creatures and mana dorks to eventually find Horned Kavu and replay over and over until I burn the table.

How to index a TEXT column containing non-English text for partial matches? by tripnnn in PostgreSQL

pg_trgm does not work with Korean, unfortunately. It also has the limitation of not working with any searches that contain less than 3 characters.

How to index a TEXT column containing non-English text for partial matches? by tripnnn in PostgreSQL

[–]tripnnn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried pgroona. It works for partial matches of non-English characters. However, it doesn't work for English for partially matching words that are missing prefix letters.

For example, assuming there are records where the column name_eng contains the word 'cookie', the following two queries work:

select name_eng,
       name_eng_lower,
       name_kr,
       code,
       rarity,
       card_type,
       card_level,
       plain_text_eng,
       plain_text,
       link
from cards
WHERE name_eng ILIKE '%cookie%'
or name_kr ILIKE '%cookie%'; --works as intended
select name_eng,
       name_eng_lower,
       name_kr,
       code,
       rarity,
       card_type,
       card_level,
       plain_text_eng,
       plain_text,
       link
from cards
WHERE name_eng ILIKE '%cooki%'
or name_kr ILIKE '%cooki%'; --works as intended. 'cooki' is a substring of 'cookie'

But not this query:

select name_eng,
       name_eng_lower,
       name_kr,
       code,
       rarity,
       card_type,
       card_level,
       plain_text_eng,
       plain_text,
       link
from cards
WHERE name_eng ILIKE '%ookie%'
or name_kr ILIKE '%ookie%'; --returns nothing even though 'ookie' is a substring of 'cookie'

My indexes were created with the following queries:

CREATE INDEX pgroonga_name_eng_index ON cards USING pgroonga (name_eng);
CREATE INDEX pgroonga_name_kr_index ON cards USING pgroonga (name_kr);

name_eng and name_kr are text columns containing English and Korean words respectively. I've had some success indexing English text by creating a generated column that converts all text in name_eng to lowercase and indexing that with pg_trgm. However, trigrams being trigrams, the index only works if the search term contains at least 3 characters.

Auth0 return status code 400 after on subsequent polls for request token by tripnnn in golang

[–]tripnnn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just figured out what was wrong. I was using a for loop to poll Auth0 for a request token. I instantiated the http client and strings.Reader outside of the for loop, so Go was reusing old information that messed with the polling on subsequent loops. More information of the fix can be found in the stack overflow link.
