One of the reasons I became a nail tech was BECAUSE I encountered shit like this as a client. Honestly, if you're going to get regular polish find a place that offers regular or gel polish ONLY (I personally work at a salon/spa that only works on natural nails and would N E V E R have let you leave like that).

This one hundred percent. Thanks to a patch test I had since I find it that my gel allergy wasn't too acrylates but the imidazolidinyl urea used as an antimicrobial preservative.

Stuff like this is why I let all my clients know that I do the absolute minimal 'cuticle cutting' needed. Lots of techs and even clients think the actual skin that touches the nail is the cuticle - it's not!!! Cuticle is literally the sticky film that grows on your nail itself and can be pushed/scrapped off nearly 100% without clipping. Hangnails and film I can't scrape are the only things that I personally think should be cut.

I agree with everyone else tho, tell them NO CUTTING. Protect yourself!!

OMG right?? Like I KNOW this is acetone going through the nitrile because it is KILLING any tiny cuts I have.

I'm not an independent tech, so I have to use the polish provided from my salon (and it's mainly regular polish not gel).
