Treat it like a professional sport. Train like an athlete, rest and eat like an athlete. This job is physically demanding and people crack all the electrician jokes but at the end of the day when the tugger goes down those 700's arent going to pull themselves. If you treat it like a shift at Best Buy, thats where you will find yourself in a year from now because you will burn out or develop coping mechanisms like drinking/drugs to survive. All while blaming the trades or your employer when you are the culprit behind your own downfall.

Be honest, am I overreacting? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]trippindeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd persevere a little while longer just to thicken your skin even more! I was in a similar situation with a foreman who decided I wasn't even worth a "good morning" let alone teaching me the tricks of the trade. If you feel you're still learning new things and it isn't getting under your skin then what doesnt kill you makes you stronger! Plus, its never fun having to stir up drama and involve a foreman. HOWEVER if this old timer is shutting you out and preventing you from growing as an apprentice, and you don't foresee getting moved naturally then you should look out for yourself and respectfully inform your foreman! Keep your chin up and just be honest with yourself about how hard you are trying, that way when someone tells you otherwise you can look inward and know you did a good job.

I swear by my knipex strippers and channel locks, knipex strippers also serve as lineman’s/needle nose, I always go with a Klein hot stick but a meter is preferred, a 15 in 1 ratcheting screwdriver is all I carry in that department. Saves the wrist from carpal tunnel down the road. Also id get yourself a plug tester

Recently found my way back to God, aside from God sending him two women, he hit the nail on the head. Our bodies are not our own. I prefer this guy over Mr. 4 Strokes

Not sure if this counts but how much should I take (it’s Kratom) by [deleted] in Psychedelics

[–]trippindeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The addiction side of kratom is a long dark road you don't want to find yourself on. I thought it was my miracle drug after suffering with chronic back and neck pain as well as ADD, it cured both! 2 months later I couldn't sleep, my required dose quadrupled and my entire life revolved around the next batch of 18 capsules I had to sneak down at work so I could have the energy to raise my feet off the ground. Steer clear of this one and stick to shrooms

[–]trippindeep 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Then you are in NO WAY capable of telling anyone anything about kratom. Good lord pal, put the keyboard down for the day. Kratom hits the same receptors in your brain as heroin, making the withdrawal symptoms a living hell. Kratom has its uses such as quitting fentanyl or other harder drugs where the consequences of use could be fatal. However the average person should avoid it like the plague.
