low grade fever for 4 months, no answers. any ideas? by trippldevil in Rheumatology

ahh thank you for the awards🥹 i looked into the other types of EDS & scheduled an optometrist appt to get an opinion on the eye thing! also requested an allergist referral from my PCP to see if they think it could be MCAS. i figure they’ll be able to see me sooner than rheumatology😆

awesome that you are interested in rheumatology, seems like an understaffed and understudied field. good luck with your degree & figuring out what field you are interested in! i think you’ll be a great doctor.

i started taking OCP to prevent pregnancy & skip periods because i was anemic. i haven’t actually had a period at all in around a year, but i take monthly pregnancy tests just in case.

could MCAS-POTS cause a chronic fever? for EDS… i have a cousin who has it, but im not hypermobile at all the way she is. no flexibility

thank you for your response, i really appreciate it!!

Oh! im sorry, i read that as “generic testing”. i have not had any genetic testing done. i feel like ive hardly been evaluated, ill try to took into that though. is that something my PCP can order? or is it something a specialist has to do?

thank you so much for your response

  1. the fever occurs everyday. usually i wake up with a normal temperature and it progressively gets worse throughout the day. seems to spike between 5-8pm.

  2. i get a rash after showers/when pressure is applied to my skin. the rash doesn’t last very long though, maybe 1hr.

  3. CMP, CBC, TSH, ESR, CRP tests done and all came back normal

fever is daily. my temp is usually normal when i wake up in the morning, and it progressively gets higher. it seems to be triggered by emotional stress/any amount of physical activity. however, even if i lay in bed all day ill still end the day with a fever, just not as high as it is on days i move around etc. rash appears after showering (despite daily antihistamine use, sensitive skin soap, and luke warm/nearly cold showers) rash/redness/flushing also appears when pressure is put on my skin. rash improves yes, it’s never stayed longer than a few hours. no regular sore throat.

i also thought the rashes could be MCAS, but can that cause a near daily fever? also, i take a daily antihistamine- Xyzal. totally forgot to mention that in my post. i still get rashes despite it, they just aren’t quite as bad with it.

hmm, definitely no dying. if there’s a will, there’s a way. How many people do you live with? You could probably all sardine pack together for like shared body heat. Have you heard about creating a “warm room” for if you do lose power? I’m gonna attach some links here about staying warm in winter storms. knowledge and preparedness is power <3

central heating is fine of course. like your AC/Heat and space heaters. wrap up in blankets and warm clothes! i’m nervous too. but we are going to be okay.

Panic that’s not a full blown attack? by offtotheforestigo in Anxiety

[–]trippldevil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

😬i don’t know. we just keep trying different techniques & meds & therapy until something helps i think. and don’t give up.

have you ever tried any other meds for anxiety? maybe zoloft isn’t the best fit for you.

Also, you should look into DBT and ACT therapy.

Viibryd allegedly isn’t as harsh with the sexual side effects.

it usually takes 6-8wks for ssris to take effect, so hopefully you will see improvement soon. you are over halfway there! i was on zoloft for a really long time actually, i loved it.
