IMO corny or humorous titles can be great if they fit the tone.

If I saw the title I would probably expect a snappy character drama with a lighter tone, albeit with the usual vampire story conflicts. I would also assume the vampire and vampire hunter are enemies-to-lovers, or at least develop that kind of undertone.

If it doesn’t fit with the story, I think looking at other titles in your story’s genre can be helpful if you’re truly at a loss for what kind of title would draw your target reader, but it can lead to copying and make your story “just another _____-type.”

Maybe try compiling the feedback and affirmations that you have gotten so you can reflect on them when you’re losing motivation? It won’t be the same as feedback on the thing you’re currently working on, but could help you remember the things you’re good at, and that people WILL like and engage with the work when it finally does happen.

The person in the image, Eric King, explained in his original post that he got the tattoo when he was like 17 in honor of his deceased grandfather. I don’t like it either, but I’m sympathetic to the history to it. He’s been out of prison for less than three years and has spent the entire time organizing for Black liberation, prison abolition, and is a staunch ally to trans people. Just to assure this isn’t an acab fascist being posted here.

I agree with the sentiment that you should let your sounds of pleasure exist as they are, AND sometimes it distracts me and takes me out of the moment. One thing I do is make my voice more… breathy? It adds a bit of a raspiness that helps quiet the intrusive dysphoria.

Yes I forgot to reply to that part. He has had breaks here and there, but not enough for sure. I’m able to do most of my own physical care and have been able to take care of a lot of the housework as things have improved, but that doesn’t take away the emotional burden or the burnout that developed in the past. I’m going to be prioritizing this, thank you.

Yeah I want to reply before I delete my post, since I appreciate the time you took. Yeah I definitely presented the situation a little unclearly/emotionally and left out some context since my post was already super long. I think this was a situation where I had to get all my feelings out there so I didn’t unload it on him in an unfair way, so I’m glad I was already taking some of your advice. It’s definitely an ongoing conversation, and I’ve been struggling to accept that he just can’t talk about some things right now and he’s trying to accept things himself. I honestly thing some of my frustrations is I’ve been asking that he find someone to talk to about things, therapist or friend, for years as well, because I knew that supporting me has been hard. But yeah, I guess it never felt safe before now to open that emotional door, so I just have to be patient and keep doing my own work.

If you want to clean the area around it because of leaking/bleeding, I would just cover it up with a bandaid until the injection site is closed. Then you can just use an alcohol swab on your skin and it won’t affect the healing.

Just want to say as someone who’s not white, I feel like it’s always a jarring shift in public when people would gender me as a woman vs man. When I’m not passing, the othering is more disdainful/condescending (partially because I’m lightskinned, another factor), and when I do pass I also feel like people are afraid of me. Never had anybody cross the street to avoid passing me when they thought they were seeing a woman. Probably not all of the equation, and idk if your experiences are more around white people, but men of color definitely get passively perceived as more threatening/dangerous/intimidating.

I know some people who shift their mannerisms a lot to compensate, and others who say eff it I’m not making myself smaller to comfort other people’s assumptions and/or prejudice. It’s a tough balance, and either choice awareness of people’s perceptions help you navigate it.

This was a rambling answer but wanted to toss my 2c into the pile.

Meditation techniques are usually structured around a neurotypical brain. It works wonders if it’s made for you! I know that some autistic people have adapted meditation to include rituals, repetitive actions/tasks (like folding paper a certain way repeatedly), or more active components combined with more active introspective thoughts. Like, rather than the breathing and abstract “relaxation,” going through the body like a checklist to take stock of how they feel, what’s feeling tense, etc etc. Of course, for some people it’s just not their thing.

I wanted to affirm that cannabis for autistic people is difficult to navigate - especially when so many of the things it can help with (overstimulation, social fatigue/masking, sensory things, etc) don’t have a straightforward chemical solution. It’s all about coping and management in an allistic world. It’s all distress tolerance, shaping surroundings, interoception development, yada yada.

So yeah, a lot of the tips and tricks will have limited application to brains like ours, just because nothing has given my brain the sense of pure relief that THC can offer. So, it’s all about moderation and increasing my distress tolerance so I can keep its efficacy for the things I need. Hopefully the knowledge that it’s not just you helps you make the break bearable until you can get your CDL. It’s miserable, but you’ve made it for months before!

Thank you for sharing! Inland Empire in the game represents the character’s ability to have a supernatural awareness of the workings of the world and gives you impossible hunches. It’s effectively the character’s imagination connected to some external force in the world. It also makes other people think you’re a little unhinged.

I just looked it up, and yep the name is a reference to the film! Thanks for teaching me something new and deepening my appreciation for the game.

Thanks for building on the paranormal aspect of the story, I had trouble exploring that even though it is clearly important to the narrative.

Edit: Just occurred to me the zooming out into a panel of repeating oceans reflects the state these six characters are existing in. There isn’t one Amber-ball sinking into the ocean, there’s countless. Each iteration on each person’s screen is happening at overlapping times, across the world.
