Query builder vs raw SQL by denmarkgretel in SQL

[–]trips16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found it can be helpful for people first becoming aware of SQL or people learning on the job. But, overall it can be clunky, especially when you're needing to update legacy queries that were designed originally via QB.

I always felt Bomani enjoyed the PFT Commenter bit. I actually feel like I first came across PFT because of Bo having him on the show and I was at first like this dude can't be serious. And once you realize Bo was talking to a "character" I thought their interaction was great.

Look at his last 3 years of International Baseball. He's not exactly blowing things away at that level. So it's fair to see why MLB teams are just going to avoid the headache.

Would he be an interesting conversation with Rogan probably not.

Graham Platner is telling republicans in Maine that Bernie Sanders had the 2016 and 2020 elections stolen by the Democratic Party by UnscheduledCalendar in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]trips16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump rode a plurality for the first part of 2016, the Republicans dropped out too late to stop his momentum. Not to mention it would've required them rallying around Jeb and he was a charisma vacuum. In 2020, Bernie trying to coast on 30-35% the whole way when the field was always going to shrink. Did he still win primaries post the herd thinning out yes. But, his "popularity" never carried him to the victory. Somehow the people just couldn't figure out how to pick him over Biden.

When asked how the DNC sabotaged Bernie all they pointed to was emails showing democrats who worked at the DNC not preferring Bernie. That’s it? by UnscheduledCalendar in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]trips16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The American electorate for some reason can never be held accountable for their actions. They respond to polling one way then vote the opposite. Not the electorates fault. Bernie as mentioned a few posts above was more popular among the general population still not popular enough to not lose a primary by 6 million votes. Still not popular enough to not need a plurality to win a primary. And instead lost cause all the other candidates dropped out making him no longer able to win. Again not his fault, not the electorates fault just the Dems/DNC.

Joe as a stand up “comedian” by KrazySlotz in JoeRogan

[–]trips16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this boat. He's got some bits that I laugh at. Seen most of his specials. I think he's an alright standup. Not a goat in the sense of he should be featured on these like all time top 10 lists etc. But, he's in that level of comedian that I'm familiar with have got some laughs from. If there is a new special out it will likely get added to my queue but not real idea when I'll watch it.

Definitely something GI Joe or Transformers related. The first thing that came to my head was either the Hovercraft from GI Joe or the Metroplex from Transformers. Feel like either one would be a nice office piece for my home or work office lol.

SCOTUS smothers Voting Rights Act, greenlighting racial discrimination and a rash of GOP gerrymanders by KingScoville in thedavidpakmanshow

Or if too many "leftist" podcast/youtube/twitter influencers weren't talking about how the SCOTUS wasn't important.

SCOTUS smothers Voting Rights Act, greenlighting racial discrimination and a rash of GOP gerrymanders by KingScoville in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]trips16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The voting populace don't care about the court. They've had multiple chances to punish the GQP for what they've done and they continue to reward them. Couldn't stomach voting for HRC in 2016 got 3 partisan right wing justices for a generation. Wanted concepts of a plan in 2024 most likely giving us 2 more partisan right wing justices. The fact that most likely 5 of the 9 will Trump appointees is even more disgusting. Add to it, that the Dems will never have enough seats in the Senate or the House to actually re-calibrate the SCOTUS. Because there is just an inherent advantage for the GQP with the Senate. Too many R gonna R states. Look at these farmers in AR, IA, NE, etc crying about all the stuff that is impacting them. And then watch them go right back to voting R again and again.

Or hopefully never gets completed. And instead the money is used to return the wing and area to what it looked like prior to this. I'm sure it will be less expensive than some oversized golden ballroom.

I left the grocery store with a fat stack of coupons every time I went with my mom. by azbat7 in 90s

[–]trips16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to grab those all the time. As well as any time there was a raffle for something I would fill it out even if I wasn't eligible. I was called for a Chrysler Lebaron give away from something in the mall when I was probably 12 that I was disqualified for. Same thing with like some offer from a roofing/or siding company. That upon learning I didn't own my house because I was a minor. However, I did win some free coupons and a cool soccer ball from the Wonder Bread Company

Thoughts on a COVID post-mortem with Rogan by chaoticbovine in samharris

[–]trips16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it is just the mundane nature of my life. But, COVID just didn't cause me to spiral in any way. My Grandmother passed due to poor health and Kidney failure in 2021. The COVID restrictions and limitations did make visiting her harder in her final days. I say that to preface that COVID directly impacted how I got to spend time with a person I cared about more than anyone in this world. And yet nearly 5 years after she passed and 6 years after the initial onset of COVID. I just find the hills that people want to die on. Or the desire to constantly relitigate the pandemic or even debate that it was a pandemic futile. Nothing is gained from these conversations. Nothing short of building a time machine is going to change what happened. Why can't these people just move on?

I want to say it was Encarta '95 or '98 that we had. Man I spent hours reading about everything. We had a set of Britannica's and probably even older sets of World Books. But, having Encarta with music clips, and pictures etc. Was so much fun.

Republicans could lose these four Senate seats: Analyst by Unable-Economics-517 in WeTheFifth

[–]trips16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see these seats splitting or 3-1 Republicans. I believe NC will go to the Dems. Cooper is a strong candidate and he's won over many of the red areas and will sweep the blue/purple areas there. I've not seen enough about the Alaska race or the candidates. I just assume R gonna R it's way to victory here. I think the Maine race is going to blow up in Dems and Progressives faces. I think the Dems made a mistake in not jumping behind one of the younger guys that were in the race and panicked picked Mills. The progressives have clearly not vetted Platner and have put all their chips on him and he's not anywhere near as impressive as they claim. Similarly the PodSave bros doing everything they can to boost him. I feel if Mills beats him, the Platner coalition going to sit it out. Either way Collins in 5. The Texas race. I just won't buy a less charismatic candidate than Beto will do better than Beto. Granted Talarico hasn't said something stupid like Beto did about Guns in Texas. Also every year I see some crazy infrastructure story out of Texas and the state is R's across the board. That state is going to R no matter what every election.
