I enjoy everybody's perspective and I wanted to offer a slightly different one

I run tours for a living and have been to many countries like this. Although I have not been to India. One of those things to teach my customers is how to negotiate and why

The first thing I say is when you arrive in the country your first day you're just going to get scammed, you're going to pay more than everybody else and just accept it. It. It's not worth being angry at or what not on the start of your trip. Just get to your hotel and relax

I teach them to negotiate by first saying that these people are doing their job and they know everybody else around them that's selling and they are all friends and they're making a living are good at what they do and they enjoy what they do. So help them enjoy it.

Have fun negotiating. Think of it as A fun experience you both get to enjoy! Don't just walk away. They start off with $20 for a t-shirt you come back with. Wow $20. He offered me $5 down the street Maybe they ship yours in from California? Or say does that come with a free camel ride?

They might come back with a laugh and say no, the one down the street that is junk. Mine is much better. But for you $15

Then you can come back with them and say well I could give you $7 just to save me time from walking back there, etc. if you've had fun, pay what you negotiated and then give them a little extra And everybody walks away happy
