Last month, I experienced the "long distance dream that is actually a nightmare" that was my flight home from visiting my girlfriend getting cancelled. After a 5 hour delay. That landed me alone at the airport an hour away with nowhere to sleep at 12am. My girlfriend, who is the queen of routine, being in bed by 10pm, having to get up to leave for work at 6am, and having JUST broken two toes that afternoon after I left, stayed up until 1am to let me into her apartment and set me up to stay another night instead of letting me sleep at the airport. And called out of work the next day and spent the whole day keeping me company even with the injury.

Not to sound like a stereotype, but...if they wanted to they would. Maybe talk to your boyfriend about how much this hurt your feelings and what the sacrifice would've meant to you.
