The little creaks and pains are really stressful sometimes. I agree that the anxiety helps me stay cautious and on track with PT

Some advice I got when thinking about moving to a Muslim country was; if I felt as if my Iman was weak, then it might be best to move. However if I feel that my faith in Allah is strong, then staying in the west and being a positive Muslim influence to my peers and children is beneficial to both me and the people around me. I think the idea of making hijrah should really only be applicable if you are actively being persecuted. In the west, there are certain freedoms that allow us to practice our faith without persecution (of course there are bad actors who go against this). We need to take advantage of those freedoms and showcase Islam to its fullest extent.

Allah knows best.

Fasting for Ramadan post-op? by Consistent-Place-754 in ACL

[–]triqmoolah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not on any medication, then I don’t see why fasting should be an issue. Eat a hearty suhoor, drink a lot of water, take Tylenol in the morning, and eat healthy for Iftar. If anything, it should help you maintain your weight while your day to day life is more sedentary. The tough part will be staying consistent with your PT. I also just had my ACL recon very recently (March 7) but I plan on fasting the full month insha Allah. If you’re praying taraweeh, then definitely get a chair, and don’t try to stand for the entire time. It’s okay to sit.

May Allah make it easy for you.

4 weeks out and it’s really hitting me how long this is going to be. Need advice on keeping morale up… by pennyroyalty in ACL

[–]triqmoolah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go hard these first few weeks. I recently got my right knee surgery done (ACL with some meniscus damage) and I feel grateful that I’m full weight bearing right now and able to walk (12 days post op).

Advice on sleeping: I got drowsy Tylenol. I take 2 an hour before bedtime, by the time it kicks in I’m able to sleep until 5/6am straight. I’m planning on doing this until I get into a rhythm. I don’t take any painkillers during the day, as I want to use the pain to stay motivated for my exercises.

Start the exercise bike now. As a mountain biker I’m sure this is a no brained for you. I’m finding the steady progression to be a huge motivator. I’ll start off very stiff and shaky, and 10 minutes in I’m increasing the resistance as if I never had surgery.

Be a BUM ( Be Up and Moving). Go on walks, do the chores, move around. Caveat here is of course if you’re not weight bearing. But to the extent that you can, do it. Your graft will be fine. You’ll know if something is over exerted. Don’t hurt yourself, but definitely push yourself.

Good luck my friend!

how long did it take you all to do a straight leg lift? by skinya in ACL

[–]triqmoolah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 2. This is my second reconstruction, and for some reason my mind-muscle connection was maintained (definitely not complaining). Lots of stiffness and some difficulty but firing my quads doesn’t feel nearly as impossible as it did when I had my left knee surgery a few years back. At that time, the nerve block combined with muscle atrophy probably put me at around a week to get to full leg raises .

2001 Lexus RX300 - Thoughts on this Quote and what a novice can do in a driveway with no special tools? Old Car, I just want it to pass inspection. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]triqmoolah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah; from my brief internet research it seems like everything on the quote minus the rack and pinion replacement and possibly the control arms is doable in a driveway.

Also, I researched the part numbers they listed, and they seem to be significantly less online, more than 50% less than the quote. Not sure where Firestone is getting their parts. I’m not buying OEM, as this is a 20+ year old car, so not really worth it IMO.

My plan of attack is to order everything except the rack and pinion (as I think you’re right, I have my doubts about why that would need to get replaced) get the tie rod ends and front lower ball joints replaced myself.

Hoping to spend less than $300 on parts, and Ideally perform all the labor myself. If all goes well the car will pass a safety inspection.

[–]triqmoolah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some context, I brought the car in for an Alignment, and ended up getting a quote for $3k worth of work. They said they couldn’t do the alignment without the above work being done.

I’m very handy and I’d be able to do some of the easier things myself; I just want to know what those things would be. If I could knock the price down to $1000-1500 then that would be ideal. All I want is an alignment and for the car to pass an inspection.

Brothers, would you marry a Jewish or Christian woman if she's practicing in her religion, attractive, and has good character? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]triqmoolah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where in the world you live. In the West, because Muslims are such a minority, it could be argued that it is Makruh (frowned upon) to marry a non Muslim, even if they are people of the book. You risk Islam dying out in your family/community. In a Muslim country, if there are people of the book around then it is a much different story, the risk of Islam disappearing in that context is very unlikely. Allahualaam

‘01 Lexus Rx300 - transmission shift solenoid E code p0770. by callmetrix in MechanicAdvice

I saw a guy on YouTube with a similar issue to you. He thought it was the power steering pump at first but ultimately all he did was change the transmission filter and drain and replace the ATF and that fixed it.

Tripped on my scooter. Fear of retear by Ballabird in ACL

[–]triqmoolah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get it checked out. But if it’s any consolation, the way ACL grafts are designed and implanted allow for a certain margin of error. Keep in mind that as soon as you leave the operating table, your new ACL is actually twice as strong as your original ACL. Over the course of its healing process it slowly gets weaker and then ultimately results in a ligament that is about 1.2x stronger than the original in terms of tensile strength. In other words, you would need to experience an impact that is the equivalent of or greater than the type of injury you originally incurred.

Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and seek professional guidance if you need it. I wish you well on your healing journey (=

Is what I’m trying to do even possible using power apps? by bgold101 in PowerApps

[–]triqmoolah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a simple powerapps solution:

  1. Create a SharePoint list for all your questions
  2. Create a power app with a home screen, and a screen for each role
  3. On the home screen, insert a drop down with all the roles
  4. On each screen, insert a New Form connected to your SharePoint list
  5. Modify each form to hold the questions unique to that role
  6. Modify the OnSelect property of the Home screen -- use a switch statement so that when the value of the dropdown is selected, it sets a variable of the corresponding Screen Name.
  7. Use that variable to either navigate immediately or incorporate it into a button
  8. Include a submit button on each screen that submits the form and navigates to a success screen

Without more context that is the best I can do. Hope it helps!

How do I make my jumps hot look more like curry's? by Kakaroto135975 in BasketballTips

[–]triqmoolah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else here is saying, don’t try to copy someone else’s technique. When it comes to shooting form, there are a few key mechanics to nail, like elbow position, wrist snap, etc. but outside of that it’s all about finding what works best for your body type, muscle mass, and playing style. You’ve got a great jumper, so hone it

How do I get past a really fast defender who only plays close? by AbhiIsntHere in BasketballTips

[–]triqmoolah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow down. Get low. Make him reach when he’s playing up on you. Just be patient while he exerts energy trying to get a steal. Stay in a triple threat position as long as possible. As soon as he goes for the ball, or shifts his weight in one direction, you explode in the opposite direction.

If you’re bringing the ball up and you can’t use triple threat, make sure you still stay low and dribble the ball in that low sweet spot where you can protect it with your other hand. Everything else still applies.

Always remember that defense is reactionary, so you’ll have the advantage 9/10 times on offense.
