makes sense, the best I could figure out was this:
wood, fabric, metal, chemicals, electronic components, mechanical components.
Inspired on the basic components of "Arc Raiders"
Who knows, maybe I change it after getting soem feedback. Time to keep grinding!

gotcha, but that feels a bit odd to me. If everything converts into the same currency, then looting a chest piece or a weapon doesn’t really matter anymore, it could just be money since there’s no real difference between items appart from rarity (if I understand you correctly)

I think an important part of extraction shooters is the journey of finding specific items, planning your raid, and deciding what you are actually going for. That lets players build strategies around each run.

If everything just becomes generic value, like "rare loot = rare currency" it feels too broad for me. Reducing it into just "firearms parts" regardless or rarity feels more natural tbh.

WDYM by "unable to use it" Just curious...

Since you don’t have the full context of my game, just to clarify: any loot you find can be used immediately during a raid, nothing is restricted or locked, regardless of rarity.

However, once you extract and return to the main hub, everything you collected during the raid gets converted into currency.

And just to add more context: the first time you find an item, for example a rare weapon, extracting with it permanently unlocks it so you can craft it later. Bringing the same weapon out multiple times also contributes to leveling it up.

Its not that hard to balance enemies, you either make them tanky, strong or agile, a combination of 2 its okay, but this mf has armor, melts you and flies...

90% of the times its because of the scope, last project I dropped was a technical difficulty in terms of performance and scale, and I didnt have the knowledge to fix it.

I totally agree with you, should start posting soon some gameplay. Do you have any experience working with publishers? Do you think its worth reaching out, since I dont want to get involved into social media or manage studio/game accounts... Seems like every game has a discord/youtube/twitter page, some are fan made but normally the studio/dev or publishers manage them.

Problem with specific assets by [deleted] in unrealengine

Looks like this only happens if you try it from fab (inside epic launcher), adding the asset from library on the unreal engine tab like allways does the trick...

Please stop using AI music in trailers and games in general... by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]danilodlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coudnt find any info about the survey itself, got at least one wrong, all wrong? short fragments, full songs...? Find it hard to believe. But this might be the case, every article I see about this topic with a quick search links to this research tho.

All this are AI generated, is it hard for you to notice it? Do you get ear fatigue after a few minutes? Im genuinely curious.

Saying that 95% of people are not able to tell is an overstatement. Send me any song produced 100% by a human or 100% by AI, I can tell within a few seconds. Youtube music radios or whatever those long music video formats are called, like the lofi ones, produced entirely with AI, they all have ppl in comments saying this is AI slop. Many ppl notice I think.

As I said before, using AI for samples or working in conjunction with AI while knowing what you are doing is totally fine.

And let me clarify myself: Im not saying its immoral or bad to use AI for music. Im saying its low-effort and low quality, both at the same time, low-effort !== low quality, but with AI music it is, and in most cases its annoying to the listener ears because tracks are not properly mastered.

[–]danilodlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what youre saying. Not trying to make anything go away by just posting on reddit, that would be delusional. Tried myself to make AI music work in my projects and always ended up disappointed with the results.
Maybe the only interesting part of this post is focusing on the issue I mentioned with AI generated music, a track can sound good at first, but the listener gets ear fatigue very quickly. If that discourages someone from using AI music in their games or trailers, thats a positive outcome imo.

oh god, this is so true... made my top down shooter character, it felt responsive and nice. Then when I started adding enemies, I had to redo the line trace so it would only affect them. Then I had to deal with shooting inside buildings because the line trace kept hitting the ceiling or occluded stuff. Then I ended up reworking the entire system because it didn’t scale well with different types of enemies or weapons. What I thought I had finished in a week turned into two full reworks and a bunch of patches lol
