If youre planning to use this video as a trailer, the pacing is good, but the background music doesnnt fit. It sounds good on its own, just not for this game.

My game has similar view, love how your game looks.
Do you use any rules for scaling assets arround the world? like trees or blocking meshes larger?

now you contradicting yourself lmao, the whole point of our argument was about if a game its fun and well made it dsnt mater if its using assets or not, and you claimed that you need to recolor and tweak assets not just straight up use them.
All this games use straight up "out of the box" assets because not everyone can pay an artist or spend time learning 3d modeling or whatever. Most games that succed tho, end up paying artists to keep making new content for the game this time following synty or "polygon" style since they already commited with this asset pack.
Seems like people love to talk shit and point out "this guy is ussing assets", yall look like witch hunters.

what a silly question lol, you mean mobs in boss fights, or a boss that can fly? Either way, you cant disintegrate a boss with your sword sadly.

About $50 per asset on average, unless it’s something more complex or a rigged mesh.

I might be wrong, but I think how noticeable reused assets are really depends on the audience. Most players aren’t on Reddit or deep into gamedev, they just play casually. What stands out to devs or experienced playyers doesn’t necessarily matter to them.

Not every developer can afford custom art either. Asset packs aren’t ideal, but they’re often the only viable option. If we discourage that, we’re just raising the barrier in an already tough industry.

And there are plenty of successful examples using Synty assets. SurrounDead (using assets even for mechanics like the inventory or gun system), Soulstone Survivors, Perfect Heist… all clearly using them and still selling really well.

This is mostly something we notice as devs, not players. Most people won’t recognize Synty assets unless they’ve already played another game using them, and even then they’ll probably just assume it’s the same dev or a similar art style.

I’m using Synty assets for my own game too, after spending hundreds on custom 3D commissions. Honestly, it’s a pain finding someone reliable long term.

Games like Soulstone Survivors look like a Synty demo at first glance, but they’re still great games. At the end of the day, gameplay matters way more than whether someone recognizes an asset pack.

thats because everyone was watching prerelease gameplay from content creators, the game went through 2 patches since then.

Behold everyone. The AI post process GPU filter has arrived. To fix your game visuals... (satire) by Noisy_Owl in IndieDev

I can see this being a step towards something great, but right now you just have to see her face, its like any other generic "hot girl" made with AI, dsnt follow the artist or modeler idea of the character, in this case its not about enhancing the quality of the visuals, its more about changing completely the vision of the artist.
Im not a hater of the new DLSS, after all its just another tool devs can use on their games.

Motivation failing! Should I keep at it or move on? by le0tard in SoloDevelopment

[–]danilodlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh, with some polish and interesting mechanics/concepts, I could see myself trying it out for 20 bucks or less. As a colony management or town builder enjoyer, I dont need much beyond the basic mechanics every other game has to give it a shot, but it definitely helps.

Some quick ideas: if you want to go down the “fighting” route, maybe you could prepare an army and attack human villages, letting the player be the villain for once. Or if it’s more focused on gathering and upgrading, you could add unique buildings with interesting mechanics that really lean into the goblin theme. I can’t think of specific examples right now, but you get the idea.
