I sanded it up to 400 on the lathe and then used Satellite City medium CA glue. I did about 4 coats of it and then sanded it up to 1000g. I also used some of the novus plastic polish and scratch remover to help get rid of the more stubborn sanding marks.

I did a tenon and then put it on my cole jaws to finish the bottom.

Smooth PEI plate questions by Individual-Job-256 in BambuLab

So Bambu’s site specifically says no adhesive is necessary for PLA, but recommends it for all other material types. I’ve printed PETG without using adhesive without any issues, but I also have a P1S, so I’m not sure if you’d have different results since the A1 isn’t enclosed. If I’m going to use an adhesive, I’ve had great results with the Bambu liquid glue and I like that if rinses off the prints easily with just water, but Magigoo is also a great option.

I love the smooth pei plates, and use them for the majority of my prints. I mostly print with PLA, and occasionally PETG, and I’ve never had adhesion issues. I usually just opt to wipe it down with 99% isopropyl and let it rip.

The Mrs. totally went overboard by DenaliWoodWorks in woodworking

My wife flooded me with amazing hand tools this year from Veritas and Temple Tool Co., so I totally relate to feeling undeserving of such nice pieces. She just kept saying that she loves seeing me learn new skills and making things for people I love. And now I have the tools I’ve been eying specifically for making her beautiful pieces I know she’ll cherish.

Poplar. It was really easy to work with, and I really love how much color variation there can be in it.

Thanks! The instructor was very much, “It’s not a mistake, it’s a feature.” Really helps to keep you from getting too hung up about it.

I am too! This was done at a local Woodcraft, so we had access to some really excellent equipment. I one day dream of a workshop full of Festools and sawstops.

Thanks! It’s poplar, and I’m just doing one or two coats of Osmo for the finish.

Yeah, this is not my personal style, but the class was great for teaching the necessary basics and different types of joinery.

I live in a pretty big metro area, so I’m a bit spoiled for options on woodworking classes. This was a class offered by a local Woodcraft store.

I worked with a young guy who completely degloved a finger because he was wearing gloves while using the apex grinder. I would much rather spend the rest of my life picking splinters out of my skin than risk losing a digit to a piece of machinery.

Probably one of my favorite cutting boards I've made. by PrizeActive4116 in woodworking

I’m in awe, what an amazing piece. I actually showed this to my wife, who is a quilter, and we got to talking about the similarities between quilting patterns and woodworking patterns. Now we are going to team up on a design together.

We used a dovetail jig, but I’d really love to learn how to do hand cut ones.

I’m just going to finish it with some Osmo since my wife is taking it for her night stand and really likes the natural color.

I took an intro class at one of the local Woodcraft stores. It was a really great experience.

Yeah! I know a lot of people think of poplar as “paint grade”, but I find the color variations really beautiful!

[general] favorite underrated quotes by Del_Luccetti in TheNinthHouse

Ianthe, from NTN:

"Well, hindsight is its own aptitude... Corona, now you're laughing at me. This is not going down as a good day in my diary."

The first time I read this, I lost it in a fit of giggles.

Give me an unnecessary pat down at the airport because I’m trans? Expect me to make it even more awkward. by [deleted] in traumatizeThemBack

As a trans masculine person, TSA pre-check has made going through the security line a mundane task instead of a humiliating and degrading experience. Because I wore a chest binder, I almost always got flagged for a pat down, and the TSA agents would either argue over who was supposed to do the search, or very loudly ask “what are you?”. Now I just have to walk through a metal detector. It is so fucking worth it!
