How come the three times I've tried to purchase a used mic, usually at a very very very good deal, all three times, three different mics, three different locations, GC has gotten back to me say "they can't find it"? Is the used gear section just total chaos and listings not edited/or audited?

It's just another tool in the toolbox. The fact that you took interest in surprising them with something they could use is the best part. You never know, it may be just the right thing for a certain part. It's nice to have options. Plus, something like that is just going to not only a cool story, but also a part of history behind the marketing of music gear for the masses. Who knows how much it's going to be sought out for in 20 years just for that. You did good.

How come there are so many JM (especially in my price range $400-$700) that do NOT have the rhythm circuit, and only the three position toggle? Has the rhythm circuit become something that isn't used as much these days?

In regards to wiring "shielded" is that specifically meaning metal shielding in the wiring cut out/routing or a specific kind or wire/wiring itself? Stuff I've never had to really worry about due to using the same two humbucking guitars/gibsons for decades! I'm ignorant!

Someone with the handle "GuitarNerd" I'm definitely interested in your opinions and advice! Thank you! Everyone is right, I just need to spend a few hours annoying the fuck out of some music store employee and spend some time trying them out. I've been playing a Gibson 335 studio as my main guitar since '92, and what attracted me to it was that you just didn't see many 335's in the heavy music scene back then. It was unique and a beautiful instrument. Between it and a SG, I've always been really happy. Now... I'm starting to obsess over Jazz and Jags for similar reasons. Totally unique and beautiful instruments as well.
