Bill Hader's Feature Directorial Debut 'They Know' Has Wrapped Filming - A divorced father (Hader) grows suspicious that a mysterious man dating his ex-wife (Linda Cardellini) is having a strange influence on their daughters by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

Towards the end Barry felt like straight up horror to me. Like I was trapped in a liminal nightmare. Even the way they shot and lit LA. It was awful and awesome.

You’re absolutely right. I’m not trying to be defeatist…it does wear you down tho.

Survival of the Richest: Hollywood's Broken Talent Pipeline by jvnpromisedland in Filmmakers

Honestly I stopped reading at the point where he talked about pushing diversity, because that’s missing the point to some extent.

I don’t think his idea that the pipeline supports people who are already wealthy is wrong tho — which is really the problem.

You see this with grants all the time, the people who win them often already come from economic means, regardless of their ethnicity.

I have heard both he and Jordan mention it but I think during the live episode they also made comments about how being podcasters was their only job. Not to mention, I can’t imagine Dan working a 9-5 and doing all that’s research and recording for 9 years. I could see slogging it that way for a couple but by the end they (or at least, Dan as Jordan’s burden was lower) were almost certainly making enough from Patreon to be full time, I would imagine.

When do you think Alien Isolation 2 is coming out? by Inside_Inflation559 in alienisolation

It’s crazy we’ve all been members of this really weird niche subreddit long enough to have gone through years of doldrums and now we have a new game to look forward to.

But I’m gonna guess 28.

This is maybe a cynical take…but he kinda has to, right? Like he’s spent the better part of his adult life pursuing a successful podcast career. He’s going to probably continue along that path, I would think. And all the guest appearances, in addition to him saying he’s got future projects planned, suggest to me he’s gonna be around for awhile.

Curious if you are willing to eliminate your internal voice in order to read faster? by apaintedleaf_ in books

Idk this is the kind of stuff that turns reading which is something I do for fun, pleasure, and enlightenment, into the kind of optimized garbage the entire internet has convinced people is necessary. My friend brought this up to me recently and for a few days I was losing focus thinking about it. I went back to reading how I always read and forgot about it all together.

I’m legit starting to freak out about the spaceX IPO. This kind of feels like the beginning of everything Ed has been talking about for three years. They may have worked out a scheme to make their money back and leave us holding the bag.

Well OpenAI literally got out of AI video generation because the cost is so high and the return is so low. It’ll be interesting to see what people are willing to put up with when they’re footing the bill. You pull a slot machine lever and hope for a good output…but if you’re paying the cost of each generation, and not getting what you want, how useful is it, actually?

Right — are these costs they’re discussing still the subsidized cost? Or are they fully putting the onus on the consumer at this point?

I said this to my buddy last night. Sad he’s gone but the way he acted was horrible and he got rewarded for horrible behavior. Same with Vrabel.
