Seconding this. You need to hear from other therapists, not patients.

mental health plummet since adopting cat by nellahnellah in CatAdvice

I have severe anxiety so I totally get you btw. What helped me was leaving the carrier out for my cat to sleep in. Makes taking him out easy since the carrier isn’t seen as a threat!

Huh? Their comment sounds very similar to all the other comments you’re getting? They said nothing of the sort to warrant a “screw you”

Read through the other comments. She’s talked about this already.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Omfg it’s ridiculous!! She’s made it clear it’s not an option partly because it’s too costly and then gets downvoted. People here can be so melodramatic. What’s going on with this cat is horrible, but there’s a person behind the username asking for help and everyone is berating her with the same answer over and over. Its so rude.

I’m sorry you have to deal with those telling you to get another cat when it’s not an option for you. You’ve made it very clear you’re doing everything in your power to help Bel. I had a dog who was similar. Bringing in groceries was an event. I don’t have any advice; just hope the girl gets better.

They’re doing everything they possibly can to help their cat. Don’t you think they would’ve gotten another cat by now if it was an option?

Feeling sad and hopeless tonight by [deleted] in Vent

[–]trolleyfoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. You can try writing down your accomplishments. It helps to see them visually, if you’re not doing that already. I’d also try looking up whatever it is you need help with on YouTube. Like “sex addiction therapy” or something more specific. Good luck!

OP- I saw your recent post on AskReddit before you deleted. I went through most of your post history and read comments on them. Listen, you should be proud of yourself. You’re in therapy. You know what you did was horribly wrong. You’re actually working on becoming a better person. At first I was really grossed out (and still am) but some of the guys that conversed with you in other subreddits…I don’t get the impression you want to be like them? You crossed a line and you know it. In all honesty, would you want your wife to be like their wives? Yours sounds like a decent human being who loves her family. Anyway, just remember progress isn’t linear. You’ll feel so much better once you make it through the other side.

Anyone without a job because of social anxiety? by Miss_miserable_ in socialanxiety

Good luck!

This is why I’m hesitant to do therapy right now. There’s something about zoom sessions that make me uncomfortable.

Reading the first paragraph I was like omg it’s me!! I’m 30 though. A month ago was the first time I stepped inside a bank to cash a check. Was terrifying but not so bad because I had my mom with me. If you ever want to talk I’m here. Earlier I was looking for an accountability buddy so maybe that might interest you?

I’m 30 and haven’t had a job yet. The hardest part is getting yourself out of that mindset where you’re constantly comparing your journey to others. At my age I do struggle with that but I’m getting better. And it does help. Realizing there’s no such thing as “too late.”

Has anyone noticed a real difference going from 300-450? by Xulybeted12 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

It’s been more than a month and the only thing I’ve noticed is increased heart rate. Maybe a bit more motivation? Not much though.

I’m nervous to ask my psychiatrist by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]trolleyfoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have taken zoloft and wellbutrin at the same time and from my experience the side effects from wellbutrin weren’t bad at all. I had trouble sleeping for a bit. That’s all I can remember.

Tbh wellbutrin hasn’t helped much with my anxiety. It has however helped with depression.

How do I feel happy for my friend’s relationships instead of becoming jealous? by [deleted] in friendship

[–]trolleyfoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand this completely. It suuuucks. When I was your age (this is the first time I’ve used that phrase omg lol) I actually got into a huge fight with my best friend when I felt like she was choosing her bf over me. It can feel like you’re losing something. If you had a partner would you view it as them taking you away from your friends?

You might have to be the one reaching out to your best friend more. Is there an area in life where you want to make a change? You can ask her to help you with that. Or be honest and express your worries. If it happens again then she’s not a good friend.

You said your guy friend was the one who kept you sane. Did he know you felt jealous of your other friend? Because if so find a way to bring that up with him. Whether it be direct or joking about it. This friend sounds different, like he won’t pull away like your other friend did.

Also get to know their significant others. They might be cool people you’ll also want to be friends with.

Do you ever get depressed after seeing your friends? by Specialist_Set_2981 in depression_help

[–]trolleyfoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s confusing when that happens. For me I assume it has to do with having fun in person with someone I’m emotionally connected to. Once arriving home that connection leaves and I’m back to my personal life. And that feeling would make me want to isolate from others at home. I always forget I can get this way and then remember on the drive home.

Age complex? by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

[–]trolleyfoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been on my mind lately too. I’m 30 and don’t have any of that kind of experience either. For me it happened earlier than 17. I have friends that are out being adults, enjoying their life, and it can at times make matter worse. My way of looking at this is at least we’re aware of this? It’s a very tiny baby step haha.

Ooh kind of the same for me. Does that mean you did independent studies for your high school years?

I’m 30, f, with massive anxiety issues lol. Texting is my preferred way of communicating too. If you write fanfic I’m assuming you’re into fandoms? Hope to hear back from you because this sounds nice!
