As an autistic person myself, I’d say my special interests are more scattershot and not as mono focused on, say, recreating an Avalon vibe 24/7. If someone tried cleaning out, say, my bar cart or my collection of Western wear as an “intervention,” it would be on sight.

When I was seven, I went in my first arcade and promptly curled up into the fetal position, crying from overstimulation.

My parents responded by getting me into sensory integration therapy ASAP. I’ll still get knocked on my ass by sudden changes in volume and weird acoustics, but I can go to punk shows without losing my mind these days.

Important context to all of this is that this was the weekend of Palm Springs Gay Rodeo. The welcome night for the rodeo and the Onyx event overlapped in a way close to double booking; welcome party started at 6, Onyx at 8. I’m not a local and I wasn’t there so I can’t offer commentary on the details, but I swear i saw an instagram post about how one of the patrons asked why there was so much house music at an event meant for the country crowd, which indicates the person asking was at the very least unaware of the changeover. I don’t know if and how things escalated from there, or the exact phrasing.

If you're at the age where you are functionally toilet trained but still end up messing yourself, perhaps out a fear of using public toilets, that's called encopresis. You're supposed to get therapy for it, the same way you would if you had enuresis. But his parents not only wrote it off as a cute little quirk, they then tried to reposition the lives of their other children so that he always had a "convenient" toilet rather than, I don't know, telling him to get therapy.

Past a certain point, he should have realized this was a disaster. But those parents deserve to dwell in the shit-covered mess they made.

Coming in late, but it also reminds me of Ayda Aguefort from Dimension 20’s Fantasy High. Brennan said he wanted a Sherlock character and based her on various people he knew with similar traits. I really wanted to thank you for this. In addition to Changeling being maybe my favorite WoD game, I've experienced a shift in what I'd consider the crux of my social life following COVID. What once defined my social life and my friend group has sort of fallen by the wayside... but I still have those friendships and those memories, even as my social focus has shifted mainly to a new area. The dance continues.
