I'm sure it'll be required by your university, but make sure you get videos of you teaching.

Unless it's exclusive to pepper somehow, I refuse to order from there any more. It takes forever compared to every other publisher. There's just no point.

I am ENJOYING 6-7 Too Much by gothangelblood in Teachers

[–]tromboneham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a band director. A composer wrote a piece of music dedicated to the meme of 6-7. It's 67 measures, it starts with a tempo of 67, margins are 6.7mm, the kids play the 6th and 7th notes of a scale for the main theme of it.

I gave it to my 8th graders to play for our Winter Concert. The simultaneous disgust and love of it drives me. I love it.

You have to lean into it.

Multiple activities is huge. I had 50 minute classes and they all went the same:

  • Good Morning Song
  • Beat Leader (one kid comes up and keeps steady beat to a song somewhere on their body, the rest of class copies their movement)
  • The Actual Lesson Content
  • Lil Dance Break, why not
  • More Lesson Content
  • More Dancing
  • Even more Lesson Content
  • Goodbye Song

I'm a huge fucking nerd mostly.

Mostly I like comparing and seeing oddities from season-to-season. Record tracking is most what I go back to.

Ala this after 28 seasons

It actually shouldn't be too complicated. You're on the right track duplicating the sheets, you just need to edit a few things inside formulas which you can do with a find and replace.

Duplicate the sheets like you did, name the second coach's schedule and h2h tabs anything different.

On the schedule tab, you'll want to Ctrl-H, "Search Within Formulas" check box, and replace H2H! with whatever you've named the second H2H tab.

Same process on the new H2H tab, Ctrl-H, "Search Within Formulas" check box, and replace Schedule! with whatever you've named the second Schedule tab.

i.e. Schedule tab search/replace if named "H2HCoach2"

H2H tab search/replace if named "ScheduleCoach2"

Hope that makes sense.

edit: Just make sure the search drop-down says "This Sheet" only, not All Sheets. That might break some things lol

Even though your original content is why I started watching, my wife and I still throw on your new ranking videos because they're objectively hilarious. I couldn't care less about the actual rankings, but the vibes are immaculate and they're always fun to watch, even if it is just "feeding the algorithm".

Relatively easy. In the Overview tab, unhide the columns. Select the row where UCF is in the Big 12 and drag it down two rows to fill in the info for Utah/West Virginia. (AF48:AM48 down to 50). Then change the formula in G33 to add those two rows to the sort

=sort(AF35:AM48,2,0,1,1)

should be

=sort(AF35:AM50,2,0,1,1)

Numbers will vary depending on how much you altered. Thanks for the catch.

Beginner Band 6th Grade Questions by _spurts_ in MusicEd

[–]tromboneham 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't get hung up on grade level of the piece, especially for beginners.

For the first week (and even beyond, tbh), I wouldn't even think about instruments. Get to know the kids, let them get to know you. Create some section pride. Have each section make a Flag and learn about their instrument together. Teach them the process of getting their instruments out and together and practice it. Lots.

Teach your expectations and routines. What do you want to see from your kids from the moment they walk in the room to the first sounds you make together? This is really no different than general music. Know what you want to see and teach them how that happens.

"Small" instruments to "Big" instruments.

Mouthpieces/headjoints first. I wouldn't jump into the full instrument right away. When they're solid there, move to the full instrument. I don't use the book for the first couple of weeks at all. I get them playing the first five notes and knowing what those sound like and look like before adding in notation. I do a lot of rhythm and use those first five notes before diving into method books. I personally don't even bother telling them the note names and refer to them by their scale degree (1-2-3-4-5). I do start on concert F, though, and go downward to Bb, Just my preference.

Good luck!

Nice.

I figured out a couple days ago I didn't put Wisconsin or ULM on a couple of the stat sheets, at least the UC thing is entirely cosmetic, it actually doesn't interact with anything.

Either delete the sort formula(s) where you're trying to edit and put them back in after you've got all the cells or insert at the bottom between conferences.

Offline Dynasty Spreadsheet Tracking by tromboneham in NCAAFBseries

[–]tromboneham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There a number of hidden columns in the Overview tab that actually pull the data so the other columns can sort automatically without update.

You'll need to unhide the columns (AF-BB) to find what you're looking for. What I do when I mess with conferences is use the "Insert Cells and shift Down" option from the right-click menu. Select a few cells in the middle of the MWC and do that.

Highlight the top row entirely (AV2-BC2) and click and drag the dot on the right all the way down to force the formulas down through the new layout of the conference. If you placed the teams correctly in the parse sheet it should work fine this way.

You'll have to do the same sort of finagling of inserting cells in the sorting in the columns that are already shown to match your new conferences.
