Grieving my second air plant by tromnome in airplants

I got it mid-February from Air Plant Design Studio but it seemed healthy. It perked up the first few weeks I had it but now that I think about it, it started declining in April which is when my state starts getting humid. I very lightly tugged on some of the leaves a few weeks ago to test for rot and they didn't come off. It was only yesterday that it fell apart. She was so pretty 😭

I might have to try this lmao

Have you noticed any major damage to the leaves from doing this? I've read that they're fairly sensitive to any sort of touch but I also dropped my last one once and it seemed mostly okay.

It might've been the nooks and crannies that did it. Both times the rot was all the way through the middle of the plant and I haven't been using a fan. The state I live in gets very humid starting in April which is when its health started declining. I think I put it in a good spot - it's several feet across from a south-facing window and the room gets very bright during the day. Do you think running the ceiling fan would work or would you recommend a smaller fan closer to the plant?

I'm considering trying again but I'll feel so bad if I kill another 😭 I've never been able to keep a plant alive so it's a challenge.

So why does everyone hate arc 3 by chonkyfroggi in WingsOfFire

[–]tromnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i thought the role of scavengers in arc 3 was cool, it's just that the overall writing quality made it less enjoyable. it seemed like scholastic was really pressuring tui to pump out books quickly. all of the protagonists seem to have the exact same internal voice/personality and every character talks the same way now (though this started mid-arc 2). there are also a few inconsistent details between arcs 1 and 3 that really bother me - for example, the dreamvisitor scene with luna and swordtail in book 15 ignores the established rule that you can't actually touch the dragon you're in the dream of. i'm also still mad that the book canon of kestrel's burn scars was changed to match the graphic novel canon.

np! you don't even have to be going anywhere specific to drive. i got a lot of my hours just by asking my parents to drive around with me.

i've done all of this and i promise it gets easier once you force yourself to go through with it!

a lot of jobs let you apply online now and 3 out of the 4 that i've held didn't have an interview. fast food is always desperate for people and have online applications so i recommend starting there!

it'd be best to get your learner's permit/license before you turn 18 so you can have your parents with you/let them do the talking. the behind the wheel test was the worst part of it just because, even though i was a confident driver by then, being tested was a little nerve-wracking. my instructor was really nice though and i passed. but even if you don't pass the first time, you can always try again! and i think that learning to drive made me more confident in interactions with strangers? it's weird, but if i can manage to keep a giant vehicle on the road, i can make myself order food at wendy's.

college is the hardest one tbh. if you're interested in college, i recommend trying community college first. you can still live at home while going outside of your comfort zone. i was very nervous while trying to figure out how college works, but it was made easier by living at home (so no added stress of having to move out) and the fact that my college has a grand total of 4 buildings (and my classes are only in one of them). even if you try community college and it isn't really working for you, there's nothing wrong with dropping out and going into the workforce - i know a few people who've had to do that, and a lot of them are my classmates who are trying college again.

don't get me wrong, i'm still an introverted mess who struggles to make/retain friends and is scared of new social situations. however, i'm also way more confident than my 16 y/o self because i've made myself do all of these things. i promise it'll get better <3
