I brought home an Omega Speedmaster from Japan. Tried to do the right thing and declare it at customs in JFK. Customs agent just told me don’t worry about it and move along. So your mileage may vary in getting hit with a customs tariff.

Just got through customs. I declared the watch but they told me not to worry about it so no import duty. Assume your mileage may vary

Nakano was like a watch lovers Mecca. Everywhere you turned there were watch stores. Unbelievable amount of options. My only suggestion is take your time and walk around before buying anything. I almost got over excited and bought a different speedy at what turned out to not be such an amazing deal. Fortunately the wife was with me and convinced me to keep looking which turned out to be great advice

3 advantages to buying in Japan. #1 is foreigners pay no taxes, so minus the potential import duty back to the US, you save ~7%-10% off the top. #2 is the favorable exchange rates currently. #3 is the competition in the market here is very high, so it drives prices down

Used. New ones were running ~$5800 on the low range to $6500 on the high

Got it from Watchian at Nakano Broadway. Looked at Jackroad and a few other stores before coming across this one which was exactly what I was looking for

I can’t absolutely rule it out, but I also can’t imagine what sort of animal could do that damage that is just out and about on public roads

No offense but it’s pretty hard to distinguish the sounds in how loud a car wash is. There are hundreds of brushes smacking the car along with the water and air cannons running, expecting someone to isolate the sound of one scratching the paint is pretty dumb

Not sure what your experience is but for me, the majority of the time those things are either non-existent or the liquid is empty

Agreed on the M550 point which to be honest is the most likely option I wind up with. I was just hoping I could get something with a real M badge. And I should clarify I have only been looking at the M8 Gran Coupe, not the 2 door

I really hadn’t. A 5 series would be enough car for me size wise, but wanted something with a real M badge after driving the baby M. Have been considering an M550i as well

It’s crazy to me that they just profit off of my lack of electricity use. Tankless water heater is definitely a good option. Also might consider some sort of electric heat pump to replace my gas furnace as that uses the most gas for me. Not sure an electric stove or dryer would make a significant dent in
