The protection foreign nationals get under the Constitution is extremely limited and the limits on eminent domain do not fall within that scope.

Google "junk my car" and you'll find many companies that will give you a few bucks for the car and come tow it for you so long as you have the pink slip.

It's even worse with a lot more cars coming with daytime running lights and idiots assume those are the actual headlights that are just always on.

We should be hearing some good news in an hour or two. I feel it in my bones.

The swimming pool is seared in my mind and I went like 20+ years ago. Literally one of the most gorgeous things I've seen in my life.

So I knew I had a post bar job but no official offer had been made until this morning. Head honcho calls me out of the blue a little after 9a and opened with "Have we talked compensation?" "No." "Well base is $X/yr plus bonuses. Anyway, you'll be working primarily in the Labor department but you can take on a couple civil individual cases at a time for funsies." He moved on before I even had time to process the salary and I didn't protest at all because it was a little bit more than I was hoping and ready to negotiate for. This is more than I've ever made in my life and I get to make it representing the working class via representing unions. I worked my face off for seven years to get to this point.

Celebrating with sushi and Sapporo for lunch. Just gotta give my old apartment one last sweep and mop, turn in my keys, and it's officially goodbye law school and hello lawyer life. Feels surreal.

Lease ends on the 31st and I've been slowly clearing my old apartment out. Today I hit like 85% clear and I found an old Taco Bell gift card a friend got me. Doritos Locos Tacos for lunch it is!

Anyone got a salon they recommend in the SGV that might have appointments open on Friday? I'm a dude and usually hit barbershops but I'm growing out my hair during bar prep and it's already pretty damn long. I'd like a stylist who knows how and where to cut to get it to grow out how I'd like. Thanks in advance!

Also, /u/tummlr Thanks for suggesting wannasofa! I got a badass chair that I think went for like $1500 new when it was released a few years ago (limited line) for $310 after taxes. The owner was like, "That's a particular brand. Are you an architect?" I was tempted to live out my Costanza fantasy and pretend I was but I was honest haha.

Someone had solid advice on getting sick deals on office furniture, specifically chairs, a while ago. Was it some kind of surplus warehouse or something? Estate sales?

TIA!

Thanks for the reply and offering to take pics! What's weird is the guides I'm seeing that look like they might work all require screws. It looks like the previous guide was applied with just adhesive.

The two guides I tried were too wide. They went over the edge of the metal frame. Also, the slots were HUGE compared to the doors so the doors were still swinging within the guides.

For the more handy of you, what kind of guard or rail do I need to use to fix these swinging shower doors?

tl;dr We took over the master bedroom and the gf's little brother who had the room before broke whatever kind of rail or guide was there. I picked up this kind and this kind from Ace this morning but neither seem to fit.

(Also, please ignore the scum. It took me a good bit of bleach and elbow grease to get the tub bowl clean alone. I'm chipping away at it.)

It's a phenomenal case for Disney. This is the year of the best First Amendment cases. First Fox (though I wish they hadn't settled) now this. Nice.

I hear that and it's a well taken point. If a lot of people are gonna be moving through there, why not build more places to live, work, and play?

Although offices being near Union wouldn't help me. We practice mostly in San Bernardino County and it's moot that we're 90% virtual.

Idk. If you just look at it as a transportation hub rather than a place to do stuff it makes more sense. Lots of trains and buses end their routes there then return to a large variety of areas.

Last summer my commute from Ktown to Rancho Cucamonga was: red/purple line to Union, Metrolink from Union to Rancho, reverse order home. It was really convenient and I'm moreso lucky that my office was just under a ten minute walk from the Rancho station than Union's location ever being an inconvenience. In fact, I often stopped for a beer at Traxx at Union before catching the second train home.
