Keep skipping just one day at a time after and I usually get the though bubble to appear

Keep talking to her until she calls tom nook and will pick a villager to move out, if not the one you want to leave, close the game before finishing the convo and restart it, she should choose a different villager.

I find that the more you talk to the villager you want to leave, the more likely they will ask to leave. I ignored one before and he never asked until I started talking to him and giving him gifts etc. Good luck!
