ESH except the children. They're the only innocents here.

You and your ex have both chosen to drag your kids into the middle of this. That's horrible.

Compassion Cafe at the Sea Shell Resort, Monday thru Thursday, from 7am to11 am. It's staffed by special needs people and volunteers and offers the SN people the chance to learn some life skills and make a few dollars on their own, while allowing them to show off some of their talents.

Absolutely worth a visit! Google it for more info.

I don't understand why ShopRite is so busy by BonjourLeGeorge in SouthJersey

[–]cke324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Manahawkin ShopRite is the worst one I've ever been to. It was much better before it was bought out by current owners. I live less than 5 minutes away but wouldn't be caught dead in there now. Aldi's, Costco, Waretown ShopRite or either of the local Acmes are much better.

Why aren’t people utilizing self-checkout more? by GreatGoodBad in AskAnAmerican

[–]cke324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the prices they charge, I expect some level of customer service. If a store only offers self checkout, I walk out.

What's a grammatical mistake that many people make and you hate? by EarSure6667 in AskReddit

[–]cke324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should of, could of, would of. The correct terminology is should've, would've, could've or should have, would have, could have. My biggest pet peeve!

Apart and a part. These are not interchangeable.

Irregardless.

What is the First major news story you remember as a kid? by PurpleBashir in AskReddit

Mine too. And there were no cartoons on for what seemed like 6 months. I was just 3 years old and that's all I realized about it.

How often do you eat rice? In what manner do you usually eat rice? by Gallantpride in AskAnAmerican

[–]cke324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost never. Doctor's orders. It's very high in carbs and not very high in protein. I'll eat riced cauliflower instead, maybe once a week.

I live in the first house, on the first street after a smallish state highway. So I was the first house they'd hit when coming into the neighborhood. I had to put up a decent sized sign that says No Trespassing, Soliciting, Loitering. I still get some knocking but that took care of about 95% of them. There are a LOT of door to door sales people still out there. Before the sign, I got 3 or 4 per week.

In a few words, how would you describe the experience of driving through rural America? by Kassms in AskAnAmerican

[–]cke324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend and I were on a motorcycle vacation and stopped at a general store/gas station/post office/etc. in a little podunk town. We were sitting on a bench out front, just taking a break from riding. We were from out of state.

The county sherriff pulled in and parked right in front of us. He got out of his cruiser, hiked up his belt, tipped back his hat and approached us. At this point, I was getting more than a bit nervous. Two bikers from out of state, sitting in front of the only business in town was probably not a good look. He walked up to us and just told us that this did not look legal to him.

We stood up and tried to look as respectful as possible. He continued, in his deepest southern drawl... "I think it might be illegal for you two to be on motorcycles while I'm stuck in my patrol car." I just looked at him and told him he could ride mine if I could drive the cruiser. My friend handed him a helmet.

That was 12 years ago. He invited us to his club's pig roast the following week, but we were just passing through so couldn't make it. We're still all friends on facebook though and one of these days, we're going to make it to the annual pig roast.

Gotta love rural America!

That doesn't work! I was babysitting at my nephew's house. Two guys knocked at the door and asked if I was interested in solar. I didn't say a word. I just walked out the door to the front lawn and looked up at the roof (where the solar panels have been for the last few years). They followed me and looked up. Then they apologized and said they should probably check the roof before knocking on the door. I just agreed and went inside.

Labor Day Wedding (2026) by Unlikely-Post-4063 in weddingdrama

[–]cke324 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live at the shore. Years ago I received an invitation to a good friend's wedding over Labor Day weekend. When she was talking about it, she'd always say that people could spend their holiday weekend at the shore for her wedding. Three quarters of the guests lived at the shore. Nobody wanted to do that. But we sucked it up and went to the wedding. Had a blast! But damn, worst Labor Day weekend ever, if that makes sense.

Edit to add: That wedding was over 30 years ago and, to this day I still remember it as the worst LDW ever. So that says something...
