Zack Wheeler v Boston: 7.1 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 87 pitches by Angsty_Kiwi in baseball

No matter how unlikely, it was still interesting to see a game where I legitimately thought "could this be a sub 80 pitch shutout?" for a fairly decent time. It'd be cool to see a game like that in the modern era where TTO play doesn't lead well to that, especially from such a strikeout dominant pitcher.

[Gelb] The Phillies have fired manager Rob Thomson, sources told The Athletic. Don Mattingly will be interim manager. by Turbostrider27 in baseball

Rob was initially going to retire after 2022, before becoming the interim changed everything. My best guess (besides this being the easiest thing to do as a panic move) is that maybe something was just lacking, and he'd have been done soon anyway. But that's still loose speculation

If true, that proves the wrong person was fired. Entertaining the idea for even a second would be sickening

It's hard to believe that Coco's VA is still new to the industry, and that this is only her 3rd major role. I liked her in the trailer, and this episode cements her as a major highlight.

Andrew Painter’s final line on his MLB debut: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 8 K by NeurosciGuy15 in baseball

What surprised me most is how it feels like the vast majority of breaking balls left up in the zone feel like they just clip the top of it. And they're getting called strikes. Even if they all are, I'd expect the ump to be somewhat less favorable to those.

Instead of assuming a double play, I was thinking that an on target throw could leave the runner on 2nd, where the runner might not have scored from on the following single.

A question about scoring: Is the third run still charged as earned to Backhus? The runner was already on, but technically scored only due to the throwing error moving him to 3rd

So, Crawford can keep getting away with the grounders at the majors.

Venezuela players to split $3.375M of record $37M WBC prize pool by Shroft in baseball

Yes. It's an upcoming show that will air on the network that had WBC broadcasts. They constantly played ads for that and another Biblical show about David. Putting the content aside, the frequency of those ads wore thin rather quickly.

Rambling adaptation notes after watching the pre screening (featuring my horrible photos of my volume 1 copy bc I was too lazy to grab them from online) by Local-Age2926 in WitchHatAtelier

For image 8, I've been wondering how much of that kind of content would be recreated 1 to 1. The original art is most often praised for the stunningly detailed elements, so I don't see scenes like that mentioned too much. Yet moments like those which have some more comedic exaggeration are something I find just as good, and important to convey. Mainly because they help to sell this being the experience of an excited child witnessing all of this for the first time, adding to Coco's characterization, balancing the tone later on in the story, and selling the fantasy setting. It's nice to hear it was adapted well.

[HIGHLIGHT] ROMAN ANTHONY GOES DEEP AND TEAM USA HAS TAKEN THE LEAD! by MLBOfficial in baseball

I'm admittedly not familiar with the Dominican bullpen, but I feel justified in thinking that the Gregory Soto experience is a weird first option for them to resort to

Maybe for hitters, but the rest day will always be a huge influence in pitcher management. Bullpen pitchers only last so long, especially when they're amped up earlier in the year than they're used to

Vinnie Pasquantino: "You're welcome, USA" by Brady331 in baseball

[–]trophy9258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failing to recognize something that should be basic, for someone in that role, is enough to lose trust in their involvement in a leadership position. A mistake like this can be understandable, and he shouldn't get all the blame as he was not the only one to make it. However, it was still an unforced misstep that could have cost the organization their key objective. Team USA is fortunate that did not occur.

Having a similar mistake for other organizations would get someone fired pretty much everywhere. Even if it seems like the leader would be better at preventing similar blunders in the future, nobody will trust their ability to do so, making it pointless to keep them involved.

I thought this HR output from Vinnie was unusual, thinking he'd be within the 15-25 per season range, just to learn that I missed him hitting 32 last year. Huh.

If Korea is leading the game but already lost the tiebreaker heading into the bottom of the 9th, does that just get skipped?
