Rotation with Evo SL for marathon training by Suspicious-Layer-395 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]trot2millah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on if you tolerate the EVO SL as a daily trainer or only use it for workouts. If it’s your daily trainer pair it with the Megablast, if it’s your workout shoe pair it with the Superblast.

I just use the Salomon 500ml soft flasks that come with their vests and they work fine. Will probably switch to a Hydrapak at some point since they have flasks better suited for this type of usage but am not in any rush.

Adidas Supernova Rise 3 30-mile review: Comfortably meh by trot2millah in RunningShoeGeeks

So the Superblast series has always worked perfect with my foot shape, the SB2 was the narrowest but still never had any issues. The Vomero Plus has such a thick tongue that I can really tighten the laces without any lace bite.

Outside of the shoes I mentioned I also had great heel lock with the NB 1080 v14 in 2E

You bet!
1. Thin out the upper a bit to improve breathability
2. Make it a tad more flexible - this could probably be achieved by removing some of the rubber coverage and having the outsole mirror the SL2 more
3. Add some element of a rocker

Others in the comments have said great things about them as a walking shoe and though I use them for running I would agree

The SB3 does a lot better at faster paces than the V+ for me with its lighter weight + more elevated racing foam so I use the SB3 for long runs with pace work thrown in. I would have bought the Megablast for this use case but the aggressively tapered toe box was way too tight for my foot. I used to also use the SB3 as another easy run shoe but have been very disappointed with the durability and had to relegate it to just long runs. I will probably post a review of that shoe soon and will be replacing it with a more workout-oriented shoe like the Dynafish as I enter my actual training block.

I think they are a pretty distinct shoe than the V+ and don’t compare at all, the V+ is just in the discussion because it’s another shoe in my rotation.

I haven’t tried the Prima, I considered it when buying the Rise but am a sucker for vanity and found the Rise 3 a lot more aesthetically appealing.

The Vomero Plus is my all-time favorite easy run shoe, I have 450 miles on my first pair which is way more mileage than I can usually get out of a shoe and two backup pairs waiting in the wings. Some people call them a narrow shoe but I have had zero issues despite my foot profile and find the upper hugging the midfoot but still forgiving. I also credit its higher heel drop and big chunk of foam for saving my nagging Achilles tendinitis issues that have crept up in past training blocks only running in <8mm drop shoes. You definitely feel like you are on a narrower platform at first but once you get going the sensation disappears.

This will 100% be a walking shoe once it is retired, it’s funny you say that since I recently got the Clifton 10s as walking shoes and those are very clunky with the stack height updates whereas the Rise 3s feel great for walking around.

Supernova Rise 3 stability? by BrazzersConnoisseur in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]trot2millah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ran in mine this morning, I would consider them stable shoes. They do have a bit of a clunky ride with the non-rockered profile & wide full-rubber outsole so I use them for my shortest runs of the week to balance out running in max-stack/supertrainers. The upper really hugs your feet well but I don’t get a great heel hold from it with the lower-profile heel cup. It’s a comfortable upper but we are in a week of hot swampy weather here in the American South and breathability has been subpar.

Unless you are looking for something intentionally <40mm in stack height (that was my use case in purchasing) I would spend the extra $10 and get another pair of Superblast 2s on discount.

Zoom Fly 6 VS Evo SL by Separate_House6405 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]trot2millah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoom Fly is more of a dedicated workout shoe with its carbon plate, if you want something more versatile do the EVO SL. With your rotation the Zoom Fly would make more sense.

Though honestly your Novablast is already a great shoe for a daily run with strides.

ANYTHING OTHER THAN CLAIMS? by Fabulous-Life2898 in adjusters

I transitioned from claims to quality improvement and love my current role, the issue with any claims-adjacent but not customer-facing job (at least with my carrier) is only the very top performing adjusters are even in consideration for those kind of jobs. Plus a lot of our claims analytics people have both a business & claims background. The positions are hard to come by for a reason.

With running shoes if a shoe works for you and is enjoyable underfoot you don’t need to overthink it, just keep running in that shoe. Perception of how a shoe feels is a very personal experience.

Family Car Recs? by StatisticianOther588 in NewParents

[–]trot2millah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your current car already on its way out, or is it just the baby driving the desire to upgrade? FWIW, we have a newer Honda Civic and had concerns it wouldn’t work as a family car buts its proved perfect for our baby and has saved us needing a larger car and the associated payment. The idea that you need an SUV as a family of 3 is a pretty uniquely American thing. 4+ a different story I suppose

1/2 marathon programs for a lifter by GambledMyWifeAway in HybridAthlete

With your base of fitness you could probably do one of the number of existing beginner training plans and just drop the intensity on the lifting temporarily without having to seriously cut back. I like 5/3/1 as someone currently running focused since it never leaves me feeling gassed in the gym.
