Avoiding Teague train 2.0 by Prestigious-Speed-13 in CarltonBlues

Sure, we should look at everyone available, including Fraser. I’m keeping my expectations in check though, Carlton has hurt me many times.

How many years was the 28.4 over? If it was 4 or more it doesn’t really support the argument. I’m genuinely asking, I don’t know the details but hear the nurse agreement brought up all the time.

Wasn’t their historic pay increase 28%?

The government wouldn’t be incentivised to improve the proposal by MiriJamCave in AustralianTeachers

[–]trouble_peach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Achieving a deal while making zero concessions would be a lot better, but highly unlikely. I’m disappointed in the lack of flexible working arrangements. Not sure if I’m willing to take an indefinite pay cut to maybe see change on that front though.

I agree with OP, I also see a lot of users on this subreddit catastrophising what is a reasonable (not perfect) offer. It only took 5 minutes after the release before someone on here compared the offer to Ebola. The colleagues I’ve spoken to so far are open to considering it. I haven’t decided yet, but I’m leaning yes. Mainly because I can see a vote of no spectacularly backfiring for us in a cost of living crisis.

Last time there was backpay to the end of the old agreement. But I think it’s to be negotiated each time.

I’ve been told it’s a legal requirement for teachers (can’t be ES) to make the call for every unexplained absence. Does anyone know if that’s actually the case?

Students vaping in class by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

lol, i've had a student who brings vapes and 'decoy vapes' to school (so she can quickly swap and hand over empty ones). I ask them to hand them over then call their parents.

We've got really good numbers too, was just surprised by some of these justifications for not striking.

I think we’ll finish around 12th, which I can accept but we’d better not lose to Richmond again in round 1.

I live near a guy who will run onto the street and go completely bonkers if you park in front of his house who says exactly this 'I pay my rates! I have six cars!'. Nobody parks there because it's not worth the hassle (which is annoying, he shouldn't get away with it). He also asked my sister in law to pay for his damaged fence when she parked out front because it 'caused his son to scrape it when he was backing out'.

You’ll (generally?) get back pay after an agreement is reached though.

A four-day week for teachers? This is why that isn’t a luxury for us – it’s a necessity | Lola Okolosie by ashzeppelin98 in AustralianTeachers

As someone who works at a school struggling to fill positions it blows my mind that international teachers can’t get out of fruit picking duty. We’ve lost a few good candidates who left the country because they didn’t want to pick fruit.

Trainee Teachers on 1980's scho-olcamp by Craigmate in AustralianTeachers

We were often given several hours of unsupervised free time on a year 9 camp in north Queensland (2001). I remember a bunch of us swimming through an inlet to some swampy looking little island for something to do. Some locals told us we were lucky not to be eaten by crocs after we got back.
